# 14 · Window collage

**Ten minutes · making / describing.** **You need:** Scrap paper in a few
sizes and a sheet with a large rectangle drawn on it. This is a pretend
window on the table; nothing needs to be attached to real glass.

**Play:** Arrange the scraps inside, across or outside the drawn window.
Tear a new shape only if the child wants to. Ask what the window might show:
a real view, a dream place or just pleasing shapes. Take the pieces apart
and reuse them after the play.

**Adult says:** “What would you like to see through this window?” “Where
should this piece go?” “Do you want to change anything?”

**Child chooses:** Picture or pattern, amount of paper, whether to name it,
and whether to keep or undo it.

**Notice:** How did they arrange space or revise an idea? Did they tell a
story about a piece or choose to stay quiet?

**Access and safety:** Use large textured scraps or cardboard for a tactile
version. An adult can place pieces at the child's direction. Avoid tiny torn
pieces around younger children. No screen is needed; a private photo of the
temporary collage is optional.
