# 20 · Pick, repeat, change

**Ten minutes · choice / reflection.** **You need:** One object or page from
any earlier play invitation, or a new safe thing the child chooses. The
[five-week map](../five-week-map.svg) can help recall ideas, but is optional.

**Play:** Ask which idea the child wants to revisit. Repeat a small piece,
then offer one change: another object, a different place, a new person or a
quieter route. The child can keep it exactly as before or invent a new game.

**Adult says:** “What shall we do again?” “What would you keep?” “What, if
anything, should change?” Listen to the answer and follow it.

**Child chooses:** The idea, materials, pace and whether to explain. “No
change” is a complete choice.

**Notice:** What did they remember or return to? How did they make the plan
their own? Ask the child what they noticed, without turning this into a test.

**Access and safety:** Offer two real objects rather than a long verbal
list, or let the child point to a picture. Use home language, signing, AAC,
gesture or adult-assisted action. Recheck the chosen activity's safety note.
No screen is needed; a local photo may help recall if the family wants it.
