# A small reminder for the first week

Adult source card. Public facts and arithmetic checked 14 October 2026; school confirmation and independent educator review remain pending. This original readable companion contains the same complete 25 field values as the editable card.

## The question

How many school weekdays are planned in the first week of Term 1, 2027?

## Who this is for

Prep or Year 1 with adult calendar reading. Count three planned days and make a small reminder. Check the local school calendar before using it.

## Where the example applies

Queensland state-school calendar; individual school arrangements need confirmation.

## The sources

Future school dates — 2027; Queensland state schools 2027 school calendar

## Source organisation

Queensland Department of Education

## Where to look

Future school dates: 2027 → Queensland term dates → Term 1. PDF: student commencement paragraph and January calendar.

## Dates the example is about

27–29 January 2027, first calendar week of Queensland state-school Term 1.

## Provider update date

Dates page: last updated 19 June 2026. PDF publication date not supplied in the retrieved text.

## When the sources were checked

## What is being counted

Count of planned weekdays in the first calendar week; not annual school days or actual child attendance.

## The public fact

Queensland publishes Wednesday 27 January 2027 as the Term 1 start for state-school students.

## Checked working

Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 January: 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 planned weekdays. Confirm the school’s actual arrangements before using this reminder.

## The planning model and invented practice

Three boxes represent three planned days. This is a planning example, not a child attendance record. The two-day practice reminder is invented.

## What still needs checking

This does not confirm a particular school’s changed dates, local closures, private-school calendar or a child’s attendance. Recheck the current source and school calendar.

## A short teaching route

First model an invented two-day reminder: draw two boxes and count each once. Then read the three actual planned weekday names aloud. Ask the learner to make one space for each day, show how many spaces there are, and tell or show how they checked. Keep their first response before helping.

## Adult example response

Three spaces, one each for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Touch-counting or matching one marker to each named day supports the check. Calendar reading may be adult-supported; record any counting help separately.

## Other ways to join

Make: place three large paper cards or spoons on a mat. Draw: make one box per day. Tell or point: choose each named day as an adult reads it. Keep the day order visible; offer quiet one-to-one work and usual AAC or exact scribing. Stop after a short try.

## Status and intended use

Public source and arithmetic checked by Codex on 14 October 2026. Independent educator review is pending. Intended use is supported counting and planning, not a confirmed school attendance schedule.

## When to update it

The educator using this card reopens the official calendar when planning and before January 2027. If dates change, update fact, working, learner task and example response together; review the changed version.
