# Foundation / Queensland Prep Design and Technologies · Term 1 Weeks 1–2

This original introductory fortnight gives a teacher ten [25-minute daily scripts](LESSONS.md), [three switchable child routes per day](LEARNER-CARDS.md), [twenty worked context swaps](PRACTICE-SWAPS.md), eight [A4 SVG/PDF aids with exact text/tactile alternatives](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md), and [two new public formative checks](STUDENT-CHECKS.md) with a [separate public teacher-targeted key](teacher/KEY-AND-NEXT.md). Start with the [safe materials, invented source cards and school-selection gate](MATERIALS.md). The lessons move from noticing designed purposes in products, services and environments to generating, choosing, making, testing and revising a safe **paper solution** for a purpose.

**The physical action matters.** A sketch can show an idea; it cannot show that a child safely made or tested a material solution. Days 6–10 offer actual supervised folding/placing/tabletop trials with adult-prepared broad paper, with observed results recorded as they happen. If a route stays on paper or an adult builds without child-controlled action, record the design reasoning and the **making/handling part not observed**. A result is never pre-written as “worked.” The school selects or approves the real classroom context, materials, access and safety; the printed scenarios are invented practice, not claims about a local school.
