# New feature-view brief, safe kit and exact fictional sources

**Local gate:** The school chooses/approves context, adult preparation, paper size, safety and access. This pack's source marks are invented graphic shapes, **not biological observations, species claims or cultural artefacts**. No child touches or collects a plant/animal for this Design task. If a teacher later uses a school-approved real image/object, record its source/licence and what the child actually saw; do not transfer the fictional result to it.

**No-purchase kit:** A4/reused broad paper, a large printed source card, two large adult-prepared paper windows with broad edges/openings, a thick pencil if useful, and a clear stable tabletop. Adults alone do any cutting before class, removing scraps; no child scissors, blades, pins, staples, tape, string, magnets, small parts, electricity, water, food or forced physical handling. The teacher checks edges, size, supervision and whether the chosen sheet actually hides a mark before claiming that property. A child may touch/fold/position a safe large window, direct an adult exactly, use AAC/sign/point/draw, or choose plan-only. A home drawing is enough; no home cutting or purchase.

| Source | Exact invented data/brief | Evidence limit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [A · Three-mark source](print/three-mark-source.pdf) | Three large left-to-right original neutral marks: **WAVE**, **RING**, **STRIPE**. Purpose for a pretend reader: look at one chosen mark at a time. The printed sheet does not state which is best or show a real reader. | These are not real living features. Reading a print is not an actual window material test. |
| [B · Two window ideas](print/two-window-ideas.pdf) | **WIDE WINDOW IDEA**: one broad rectangular opening; **NARROW WINDOW IDEA**: a smaller broad rectangular opening. Both are diagrams for adult-prepared paper, not tested solutions. | Do not claim either reveals only one mark before actual placement; sheet thickness, opening and position matter. |
| [C · Safe window steps](print/safe-window-steps.pdf) | Adult prepares broad openings. Child may **1 CHOOSE**, **2 FOLD BORDER**, **3 PLACE OVER SOURCE**, **4 LOOK AND REPORT**. Unselected actual result options: **TARGET ONLY / EXTRA MARKS / NOT TRIED**. | Adult cutting is not child handling; fold/position/result need real approved action/observation. |
| [D · Material/feature decision mat](print/material-feature-mat.pdf) | Blank SOURCE/USER/PURPOSE, TWO IDEAS/CHOICE, ACTUAL PAPER ACTION/RESULT, NEXT CHANGE/UNKNOWN. | Keeps planned visibility separate from observed visibility. |
| [E · School source slot](print/school-source-slot.pdf) | Blank real familiar product/service/environment source/date and child-seen feature fields. | Leave blank without an approved local source; no invented school or First Nations detail. |
| [F · View comparison card](print/view-comparison-card.pdf) | Large blanks for TARGET MARK, BEFORE WINDOW, WITH WINDOW, WHAT CHANGED/NOT TRIED. | A view is recorded from what the child actually saw or from an explicitly labelled adult description; no visual ability is presumed. |

**Held public checks:** Day 25 [Paper Pattern Gallery](print/check-a-pattern-gallery.pdf) is a new fictional two-mark display, **ZIGZAG** and **DOT ROW**, with a purpose to keep **both** printed labels visible for a pretend comparison. It asks for two broad-paper layout ideas and a source-based choice; it is not a material trial. Day 30 [Paper Direction Pointer](print/check-b-direction-pointer.pdf) is a separate physical transfer: an invented left-to-right **ARC, GRID, CROSS** card, target **GRID** in the middle, and one broad blank paper sheet. Child chooses/makes or directs a safe blunt paper pointer to indicate GRID while its printed label stays clear. Record **TARGET CLEAR / LABEL COVERED / NOT TRIED** from an actual supervised try only. These names/criteria are held from routine practice until first responses.

**Evidence note:** record the child's two ideas, chosen purpose/criterion, access route, adult content cue, who actually folded/placed/pointed, what happened, and one revision. If the child directs an adult, credit design agency and record adult physical handling separately. A plan-only route has physical action **not observed**. Keep any actual child evidence in the school's private records, never this public pack.
