# Two fresh public formative checks · child copy

Your teacher can read every word and write your exact words. Draw, point, sign, use AAC or direct an adult. Your first response is saved before teaching help. These are **not secure exams**. No purchase, real family information, cutting, home test or compulsory material touch is needed. An empty source/result space stays empty until something really happens.

## Check A · Day 45 · Book Table

Use the [large A4 source](print/check-a-book-table.pdf) or ask for its full text. A pretend book-table designer wants to show a **DRAWN COVER** for an invented book and leave a separate **REAL BOOK SLOT** empty until a school-approved real book is available. A visitor must be able to tell a drawing from a real book placed later. No real book or visitor response is supplied.

1. Show **two different large flat page layouts** that could keep DRAWN COVER and REAL BOOK SLOT apart. Keep both source labels visible. Draw them, describe them or direct an adult.
2. Choose one and explain how a pretend visitor could find the drawing and see that the real slot is still empty.
3. What would you need to observe before saying a real visitor understood the display? Do not invent a book or a visitor answer.

An adult notes any content cue or scribing. The printed source offers no chosen layout or success result.

## Check B · Day 50 · Maker Log

Use the [large A4 source](print/check-b-maker-log.pdf) or ask for its full text. A pretend maker wants one large flat page to keep three things in order: **PLAN** (an idea), **TRIED** (what actually happened, only if a safe trial occurs), and **CHANGE** (a next design idea). TRIED starts EMPTY. Your teacher decides whether a school-approved large-card placement trial can happen; no trial result is printed.

1. Show **two distinguishable layouts** for PLAN / TRIED / CHANGE. Choose one and explain how a viewer could tell what was an idea, what was an actual result if there is one, and what is still a next idea. Keep all three labels visible.
2. Say safe steps for a large-paper display: who checks the table and material, who labels or places a broad card, and what you would inspect.
3. If a supervised card-placement try really happened, report who handled it and whether the card **STAYED / MOVED**. If no try happened, report **NOT TRIED** and keep TRIED empty. Tell what a real viewer did only if a real person checked; otherwise say unknown.
4. Suggest one change or next question connected to your actual observation or unknown.

The printed page has no selected layout, card result or viewer response. An adult doing the physical placement is recorded as adult action even when you chose and directed the design.
