# Large paper alignment-guide brief, kit and exact practice facts

**School gate:** Follow current local material, accessibility, plant-safety, privacy and consent procedures. Adults prepare all cutting and inspect a clean broad sheet, two broad blunt practice cards, thick marker and clear stable tabletop. An A3-or-larger surface is preferred for an actual trial; the A4 sheets are diagrams. No tape, pins, staples, blades, string, small detachable parts, real family artefacts, real plant parts, plant touching or outdoor placement is required. A child may point, draw, sign, use AAC, direct an adult or stay on the complete no-material spoken route. Do not place the guide on a walking route or near a living plant; it is a tabletop design task.

| Original source | Exact supplied practice facts | Evidence limit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Two invented drawing cards](print/two-drawing-brief.pdf) | **CARD ONE** and **CARD TWO** each show a simple square-and-dot sketch on separate broad sheets; the dot positions differ. They are imagined drawings, not Mika's family album, a real boat, plant or child record. | Different drawn marks do not prove a real object changed. |
| [Two proposed guides](print/guide-ideas.pdf) | **BOTTOM EDGE GUIDE** is a broad line; **LEFT CORNER GUIDE** uses a broad vertical and horizontal corner. Both are untested schematic ideas. | Neither gives a result about real card alignment or viewpoint. |
| [Safe guide steps](print/safe-guide-steps.pdf) | **1 ADULT CHECKS**, **2 MARK A BIG GUIDE**, **3 PLACE TWO LARGE CARDS**, **4 LOOK AND REPORT**. Status: **BOTH ON GUIDE / ONE OFF GUIDE / NOT TRIED**, unselected. | Marking a guide, placing cards and viewing must actually occur to report them. |
| [Design record](print/design-record.pdf) | Blank viewer/purpose, two ideas/choice, maker/actual edge result, viewer/next question fields. | Edge contact and viewer understanding are separate. |
| [Real record gate](print/real-record-gate.pdf) | Blank approved record source, date/view/permission, child-visible feature and limits. | Do not fill without a real school-approved source. A drawn fictional plant cannot replace it. |
| [Revision sketch](print/revision-sketch.pdf) | Broad blank guide with space for an alternate reference edge and “what to check next”. | A thicker printed edge is not a proven physical improvement. |

**Optional actual tabletop trial:** Adult gives an approved A3-or-larger broad sheet and two approved large practice drawing cards. Child may mark a reference edge/corner and position each card in turn; or direct an adult who physically does it. Record who marked the guide and who placed each card. Observe **BOTH ON GUIDE** only when each actual broad card edge contacts the chosen guide at *its own* placement check, **ONE OFF GUIDE** when at least one does not, or **NOT TRIED** when no approved placement happens. Describe any other observed state precisely. The two cards' internal marks may still differ; contact with a paper rail does not make drawings or original viewpoints comparable. Ask a willing reader to find the reference edge only if a real viewer is available; record what they actually do. Keep the practice cards distinct from any private family source or real plant record.

**Held checks:** Day 65 [Kite Sketch Guide](print/check-a-kite-sketch.pdf) has a fresh fictional pair of drawings, two blank idea areas and no trial result. Day 70 [Nature Notebook Guide](print/check-b-nature-notebook.pdf) has a new fictional two-page source, safe alignment challenge and blank result. Do not rehearse those exact cases before children's first responses.

**Private educator note:** Record the child's two ideas, choice and reason, access/support, adult content cues, actual physical marker/placer, actual edge result if any, actual viewer response if any, and next design question. Store named work under school policy; none belongs in this public pack.
