# Two fresh public formative checks · child copies

Your teacher can read every word and write your exact words. Draw, point, sign, use AAC or direct an adult. Save your first idea before help. These are **not secure exams**. No purchase, printer, compulsory sound, touch, making, vessel, water or home trial is needed. A drawing is a plan; it does not show what a real user heard or where a real vessel base landed.

## Check A · Day 75 · Puppet Signal Pad

Use the [large A4 source](print/check-a-puppet-signal.pdf) or ask for its full text. A pretend puppet show has one storyteller and one willing partner. The partner says they would like an **optional gentle turn cue** and may choose a visible sign instead of sound. The storyteller could make a cue on a large tabletop pad. The paper gives **no pad, no material choice and no user response**.

1. Show **two different broad pad ideas**. They may differ in large material, cue place, shape or findable label. Say how each could help this particular partner know when a turn is offered.
2. Choose one idea to explore first and say why. What would an adult check before anyone uses real material? The partner can stop or choose no sound.
3. What would you need to ask or observe before saying the cue helped this willing partner? If no approved try happens, say **NOT TRIED**. Do not guess that a drawn cloth or card sounds a certain way.

The two idea spaces are empty. No prior result is printed. An adult notes any idea they suggested rather than presenting it as the child's first idea.

## Check B · Day 80 · Museum Vessel Pad

A pretend museum desk has **EMPTY EXHIBIT A** and **EMPTY EXHIBIT B**, two unbreakable containers shown only as outlines. A pretend adult wants a **dry broad landing pad** so each container can be placed separately and its large label can be found. There is **NO WATER**. The drawing gives no pad, no placement and no capacity result. Your teacher decides whether a locally approved real empty-vessel placement is possible.

1. Show **two different broad-pad plans**, then choose one for the adult user. Say what would help find the A/B labels and where a visible base should be relative to the pad edge.
2. Explain safe steps: who checks the table/material, who positions the pad, and who alone places each approved empty unbreakable vessel. Nobody pushes or tips it.
3. For **each** vessel, only report **FULLY ON** if its visible base was actually wholly inside a real pad boundary; report **EDGE OFF** if an actual base crossed the edge. If no approved placement happens, write **NOT TRIED** for A and **NOT TRIED** for B. Describe any unclear actual result rather than forcing a label. Say who physically handled each object.
4. Name one useful change or next question from the actual result or unknown. Can this dry check tell which vessel holds more? Explain.

No physical result or reader answer is printed. A child may direct an adult, but the adult's vessel handling stays adult action. If no material action is suitable, the plan and two honest NOT TRIED statuses are a complete response.
