These are messages for pretend shows, not commands to a child. The child may direct an adult or describe the message without carrying out any action. Numbers identify positions; counting or pattern continuation is not assessed here.

## Source A · first message

Three broad physical props can stand for these data items: a flat hand-outline card for **WAVE**, a large paper star for **SHOW STAR**, and a folded blank card for **FINISH**. None is a photograph of a person. In order, the first message is:

**WAVE → SHOW STAR → FINISH**

Physical objects are one representation. A picture of a hand/star/folded card is another. Pictures of objects are not the physical-object form. Use large stable props; no cutting, holding, motion or small loose parts are required of a child.

## Source B · Studio Key 1

**CIRCLE means WAVE. SQUARE means SHOW STAR. TRIANGLE means FINISH.**

These meanings are agreed only for this fictional studio. Circle/square/triangle do not have these meanings in every culture, school or app. Print the meaning beside the shape and read it aloud. Source A with Key 1 is **CIRCLE → SQUARE → TRIANGLE**.

## Source C · Studio Key 2

**CIRCLE means FINISH. SQUARE means WAVE. TRIANGLE means SHOW STAR.**

The underlying Source A message stays WAVE → SHOW STAR → FINISH. With Key 2 its symbols are **SQUARE → TRIANGLE → CIRCLE**. Reusing Key 1's symbol strip with Key 2 would change the message to FINISH → WAVE → SHOW STAR. The reader needs the matching key.

## Source D · a revised show

The invented maker changes only the middle item. **WAVE → SHOW MOON → FINISH**. A broad paper crescent stands for SHOW MOON. For the revised Key 1 add **OVAL means SHOW MOON**; other meanings stay unchanged. The revised symbol strip is CIRCLE → OVAL → TRIANGLE. This fictional revision is not an observation of a real child or a real show.

## Empty personal-data categories

Use empty labelled cards **MY NAME**, **A PHOTO OF ME**, **MY VOICE RECORDING**, **MY DRAWING**, and neutral **INVENTED SHOW KEY**. Do not write a child's values, capture a recording or inspect family photos. Ask whether information would be about them or their own creation. A child may point to a category or pass. Recognising their drawing as their own data does not establish a legal copyright judgement or permission to publish it.

INVENTED SHOW KEY here means the supplied teacher key, not a key the child authored. A child-authored key or board is also their created data, even when it contains no identifying details. **Owned/created data and identifying personal details are different ideas.** Do not teach that something must identify its maker to be their created data, or that a child's creation is automatically permitted for public sharing.

## Adult preparation

Offer three stable positions with broad separators, duplicate blank cards, a chosen communication route, seated/private space and rest/pass. Child may use eyes, words, sign, AAC or exact direction. Check any tactile material under local safety/access rules. For a home route, an adult can label three ordinary broad paper pieces; no purchase, printer, account or device is needed. Any live display uses a willing reader and school consent rules; no upload or recording is part of the task.
