# School-held actual drama work and context

**Why this is held:** AC9ADRFE01 and the Foundation achievement standard involve encountering real arts works and people/community contexts. Our invented paper visitor is not an authentic play, local story or cultural performance. The school chooses a live or recorded age-appropriate work or approved excerpt from a creator/venue's first-party source; checks viewing, performance, copying, adaptation and translation permissions; and learns the maker's account of its context. A webpage or stream does not authorise reproducing a script, costume, character or performance.

The [QCAA Prep alignment](https://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/downloads/aciqv9/the-arts/curriculum/ac9_drama_prep_as_cd_alignment.pdf) anchors the row; [ACARA Drama examples](https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/support-resources/learning-area-resources/drama_examples_of_knowledge_and_skills) support role/situation and multiple viewpoints. For First Nations work, follow [Creative Australia's cultural and intellectual property protocols](https://creative.gov.au/first-nations-arts/protocols-for-using-first-nations-cultural-and-intellectual-property-in-the-arts) and relevant cultural authority. Do not copy restricted story, language, costume, movement, voice or ceremonial action. One maker does not represent every community.

**Teacher insert record:** maker/company and cultural authority; title/date; first-party source; what the creator says about purpose; rights for viewing and any adaptation; age suitability; sensory/communication alternatives; consent for enactment and sharing; one open child observation question; and unknowns. A text synopsis is an access route to the **description**, not evidence that the child saw or heard the original performance. No child has to share family stories or act another person's trauma.
