# Learner choice cards · English Days 131–140 Choose **one** of three invented scenes each day. Your adult reads scene words and information labels aloud. Read a **Child print** line by yourself only if your teacher has taught every part; otherwise hear it and answer the story question by speaking, signing, AAC, pointing, drawing or directing a scribe. You may say “I do not know yet.” You never need a home object or a real person's private answer. Day 135 and Day 140 choices are **after** the new teacher-held check. ## Day 131 - **Maker:** Two paper shapes lie together. **Child print:** `A red cap is on a mat.` Make an honest label about a *different* paper object you can actually inspect. - **Book corner:** A fabric square sits beside a paper bookmark. **Child print:** `A map is on a mat.` Which label fact would need touch or an adult description? - **Toy stage:** A paper cup shape stands in a scene. **Child print:** `A cup is on a mat.` Name one thing a picture tells and one thing it leaves open. ## Day 132 - **Paper tubes:** One looks tall, one broad. **Child print:** `I can see a cup.` Would height alone tell you mass? - **Costume pictures:** Two drawn caps have different widths. **Child print:** `A cap is on a mat.` Which words would help someone who cannot see the picture? - **Model table:** Two strips meet at one end. **Child print:** `A red mat is in a bag.` Point to what can be compared directly and what needs another test. ## Day 133 - **Book marker:** Compare only these two paper strips. **Child print:** `I can see a map.` Tell a listener which *one in this pair* is longer. - **Toy bridge:** Compare two safe paper supports. **Child print:** `A tin is on a mat.` Say a feature you observed, then a question for later. - **Fabric collage:** Feel or hear the description of two samples. **Child print:** `A cap is in a bag.` Make a claim about this pair only, not all fabric. ## Day 134 - **Cup drawing:** Make a label for one drawn cup. **Child print:** `A red cup is on a mat.` Let a listener check picture and words. - **Paper sign:** Make a clear label for one chosen shape. **Child print:** `A map is in a bag.` Change one word if it fails to match your picture. - **Costume shelf model:** Label one safe object with a feature you checked. **Child print:** `I can see ten.` If your display is not ten, tell the adult the line does not fit. ## Day 135 · use after your check - **Maker:** Put a word beside an observed paper edge. **Child print:** `A red cap is in a bag.` Say what you saw and what remains unknown. - **Paper stage:** Make a fact and a wonder about two cut shapes. **Child print:** `A cup is on a mat.` Keep the two apart. - **Book corner:** Choose a label a visitor could use. **Child print:** `I can see a map.` Ask what else the label should say. ## Day 136 - **Label shapes:** An invented respondent may choose dot, stripe or square. **Child print:** `I can see a cap.` Ask permission first; a pass is allowed. - **Book marker:** An invented respondent may choose smooth or raised card. **Child print:** `A map is on a mat.` Ask which they choose *for this marker*. - **Toy display:** An invented respondent may choose a wide or narrow sign. **Child print:** `A cup is in a bag.` Ask for a repeat if the answer is unclear. ## Day 137 - **Sol's marker:** Hear Sol's exact choice and reason. **Child print:** `I can see a map.` Tell your listener “Sol said…” - **Ari's display:** Hear Ari's exact label choice. **Child print:** `A cap is on a mat.` Keep Ari's words; do not add a colour. - **Iva's board:** Hear Iva's one-model answer. **Child print:** `A red cup is on a mat.` Tell what Iva chose and why, not what everyone chooses. ## Day 138 - **Book corner:** Ask a neutral question about two paper markers. **Child print:** `I can see a cup.` Include a pass choice. - **Maker table:** Ask which of three label shapes fits a model tray. **Child print:** `A tin is in a bag.` Let the respondent point instead of speak. - **Paper stage:** Ask which cue card someone chooses for this stage. **Child print:** `A cap is in a bag.` Avoid telling them your favourite first. ## Day 139 - **Iva:** Put source, choice and reason into a short report. **Child print:** `A map is on a mat.` Check Iva's words again before editing. - **Sol:** Report Sol's choice for this paper marker. **Child print:** `I can see ten.` If no count of ten is shown, say the print does not fit your display. - **Ari:** Report Ari's label for this one model tray. **Child print:** `A cup is on a mat.` Ask the roleplayed source whether you got it right. ## Day 140 · use after your check - **Shape report:** Make a pretend respondent card with one bounded choice. **Child print:** `A cap is on a mat.` Ask if your report kept the answer. - **Maker report:** Draw a safe object and a label choice. **Child print:** `A tin is on a mat.` Tell one thing the respondent did *not* say. - **Book report:** Let an adult act a fictional source who may pass. **Child print:** `I can see a map.` Give source and exact choice if one was offered. Your own label may use richer words through an adult's scribing. That shows your idea; your teacher records separately which letters or words you read and wrote independently.
