# Author desk run-through · Foundation English Weeks 31–32

**29 September 2026; desk simulation and file inspection only.** No classroom, parent, child, funder, accessibility specialist or authority has tested this pack. The lenses below are author simulations and exact checks, not human-subject evidence. [Verifier](verify_pack.py), [source crosswalk](CURRICULUM-CROSSWALK.md), [rights ledger](SOURCE-RIGHTS.md) and A4 PDF inspection make the review reproducible.

| Lens used | Action and finding | Change or remaining work |
|---|---|---|
| New Prep teacher, Day 151 | Opened README → lesson → sources A/B/C → three-text mat → child choice. Six stages add to 25 minutes; all three base texts are actually supplied. | Reworded maker and puppet choices to transfer the supplied texts' forms rather than ask a new teacher to invent missing stories on the spot. A local teacher still needs to preflight room routines and language. |
| New Prep teacher, Day 156 | Used six broad paper circles, moved two, counted four left, then filled WHO/FIRST/ACTION/THEN. English retell and mathematics model were recorded separately. | Added a six-box drawing route and explicit fictional-versus-observed language. A child does not need small loose parts or real class data. |
| Child access simulation | Followed paper screen C without a device, colour, sound or precision click. Its linear transcript named both frames, both choices and Next/Back. Tactile broad cards can represent the same order. | Paper screen does not collect a selection, and both options lead to the same generic next frame. Actual AAC, tactile, vision, hearing, motor and language suitability need child/support-team review. |
| Fresh-check child view | Opened learner cards before teacher check. Elin's paper-kite texts, Lila/Sam's flag event and four held-out CVC items were absent from practice pages at authoring. | Teacher check and key are separate pages. A local class may already know a word, so the adult records familiarity and can substitute a new taught-point item. |
| Parent with little time | Chose one optional five-minute sign or broad-card story. It needed paper and an adult reading, no device, purchase, upload, photo or family disclosure. | Family choice remains optional; it is not homework required for evidence. |
| Potential funder/reviewer | Followed exact ACARA workbook hash, QCAA links, page rights, original vector metadata and PDFs. Recomputed source events 6−2=4, 3+2=5, fresh 4+3=7. | Claims say “proposed partial” and “desk review”. No state approval, literacy gain, adoption, translation quality, broad disability accessibility or classroom impact is claimed. |
| Print inspection | All five A4 PDFs had embedded selectable text and credit; three source cards were ready to show, and two response mats had roomy boxes with no visibly clipped label in preview. SVGs had title/description and no meaning carried by colour alone. | A school should test photocopy legibility, tactile overlay and its own printer margins before class use. |

**Specific critique and correction:** An early Day 151 warm-up represented the adult word “book” as /b/ /o/ /k/, which mismatched its vowel in common Australian speech. It was replaced with the actually transparent spoken blend /m/ /a/ /t/ for “mat”; adult reads “book”. An early Day 156 child-print strip used “six” despite the narrow taught pool; it was replaced with “a mat”, and quantity words remain adult-read unless locally taught. The Day 155/160 checks were then searched against prior Foundation English teaching pages. The screen mockup is deliberately described as **paper**, never an operational application.

**Still required before a 10/10 field claim:** practising teachers review timings and wording with a class, the school checks local/state planning and phonics sequence, children and access teams test response routes, communities author any First Nations language/cultural inclusion, and actual usage is observed before reporting efficacy. The short checks cannot settle a whole-year standard. Do not translate these texts into a language without a qualified review, especially a First Nations language.
