# Foundation / Prep English · Weeks 39–40 · Days 191–200

**Teacher draft, 29 September 2026.** Week 39 prepares a child-chosen explanation for a real or explicitly fictional audience and revises only from feedback that actually happened. Week 40 uses several original functional and imaginative texts plus a narrow controlled print set, then makes an honest portfolio handover. This is a concluding learning sequence, **not a claim that one check certifies a year's learning**.

Start with [ten timed 25-minute lessons](LESSONS.md), [complete original sources](MATERIALS.md), [thirty same-target learner choices](LEARNER-CARDS.md), [twenty worked practice swaps](OPTIONAL-PRACTICE.md), [two fresh teacher-held checks](ASSESSMENT.md) and a [separate teacher key](TEACHER-KEY.md). Five original A4 aids are ready as SVG/PDF pairs: [story-kit guide SVG](story-kit-guide.svg) / [PDF](story-kit-guide.pdf), [audience/feedback mat SVG](audience-feedback.svg) / [PDF](audience-feedback.pdf), [four-scene story SVG](story-sample.svg) / [PDF](story-sample.pdf), [text samples SVG](text-samples.svg) / [PDF](text-samples.pdf), and [portfolio handover mat SVG](portfolio-handover.svg) / [PDF](portfolio-handover.pdf). [Exact spoken/text/tactile equivalents](MATERIALS.md) keep the core tasks possible without screen, printer, audio or public presentation.

**Set up in five minutes:** Read the day's source and arrange broad paper cards or its linear description. Offer a child a context and communication route: point, sign, AAC, private speech, drawing, writing or child-directed adult placement/scribing. A peer listener is optional and only with consent; an adult or fictional paper listener works for rehearsal, but a modelled response is labelled **MODEL**, not actual peer feedback. Optional controlled strips are independently read only if every relevant correspondence and familiar word was explicitly taught. Rich sign/story text can be adult-read for meaning. Keep fresh Days 195/200 checks unseen until first independent response is recorded.

**Handover:** Keep any actual child work in the school's approved record system. The blank portfolio mat lets a child choose available samples from this week or earlier, identify what they did themselves and what help was given, and name a next step. If a sample is missing, record **not available** rather than invent progress. Do not publish child names or samples through this pack.

**Curriculum and rights:** [Exact pinned ACARA v9 Foundation English rows](CURRICULUM-CROSSWALK.md) are proposed partial national links; [QCAA ACiQ v9 English](https://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/p-10/aciq/version-9/learning-areas/p-10-english) is the Queensland Prep entry point. State-specific and local mappings remain due. [Source/rights ledger](SOURCE-RIGHTS.md), [honest author desk review](QA-RUN-THROUGH.md), and [hash verifier](verify_pack.py) show what was checked and what remains to be tested by educators and children.
