# Optional family/carer invitations · no return required

These are no-cost, private ways to play with **the pack's fictional sources**. They are invitations, not homework or a request for a family's identity, origin, celebration, photo or address. A child can do the same activity with an educator and the paper visitor. No response is a complete option. Do not upload any real family answer to the public pack.

1. **Map and question (Days 1–2):** together look at the [fictional map](print/paper-learning-place-map.pdf) or hear its [linear description](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md). Ask, “Where is STORY MAT on this *paper* map?” Then let the child ask a question about one printed symbol. Pointing counts.
2. **Two views (Day 3):** read Pip and Ren's [fictional cards](print/fictional-views-and-care-cards.pdf). Ask, “Which sentence is Pip's? Which is Ren's?” A child may say how they differ without naming a place in their own life.
3. **Sign tester (Days 6–9):** draw a large imaginary BOOK symbol and the words STORY MAT, or dictate them. Put the sign beside the matching place on the invented map. Ask, “Who might this sign be **intended** to help?” A paper puppet may be the visitor; do not claim a real user test.
4. **Before/next/after (Day 7):** draw three boxes: blank sign, mark added, sign placed. Child orders them and says which source picture showed each step. No printer is needed.

**If a family independently wishes to contribute a real place, relationship or celebration:** use only the school's approved private consent and safeguarding process. Let the family choose what, if anything, can be shared with whom. The teacher checks attribution, context and privacy; the public pack never presumes or stores that contribution. Country/Place content additionally needs the [local cultural-authority gate](LOCAL-SOURCE-INSERT.md). The fictional options remain equally valid for children who do not contribute personal material.
