# Learner cards · choose or switch routes All people and places here are made up. You can speak, point, sign, use AAC, draw or tell an adult exactly where to mark. The adult writes your own words and notes help. You never need to share your home, family, special place or Country/Place. A, B and C are ways to answer the **same target**, not fixed learning styles. Your teacher can read the [full source text](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md). Each home idea is free and optional. ## Day 21 · Ask from a drawing **Shared target:** Ask one question [Source A](print/courtyard-drawing.pdf) answers and one it cannot. - **A · Mark:** Circle BLUE MAT on the drawing; draw one answerable and one unknown question bubble. - **B · Say/AAC:** Ask “What is in the centre?” then ask “Did someone use it?” Tell which question A can answer. - **C · Direct:** Tell an adult which large feature word to point to, then direct them to write UNKNOWN for a real-use question. **Home:** Ask a toy a make-believe question about a paper place; no photo or visit. ## Day 22 · Sort kinds of source **Shared target:** Sort a drawn feature, a written instruction and a result that is still unknown. - **A · Mark:** Fill three broad fields on the [sort mat](print/feature-source-sort.pdf) with source letters and marks. - **B · Say/AAC:** Tell one A drawing fact, one B instruction and one thing neither proves. - **C · Direct:** Direct an adult to place large A/B/UNKNOWN headings above exact source words; explain one choice. **Home:** Make up a sign for a puppet, then say a sign does not prove the puppet obeyed it. ## Day 23 · Model one drawn place **Shared target:** Put three labelled features in page-relative positions and name Source A. - **A · Draw:** Make one large three-zone rectangle and mark shelf left, mat centre, shade/seat right. - **B · Say/AAC:** Tell an adult the positions, then narrate “In Source A, ___ is ___.” - **C · Direct:** Direct an adult to lay three large paper labels into broad zones; say the source label and one position. **Home:** Sketch an invented three-part paper scene or narrate it without making a real home map. ## Day 24 · Two speakers, two views **Shared target:** Attribute both [views](print/visitor-views.pdf) and say why they do not represent everyone. - **A · Mark:** Join ARI to SHADE and REN to MAT, then mark “other visitors: unknown.” - **B · Say/AAC:** Finish “Ari says ___; Ren says ___; we have only two invented speakers.” - **C · Direct:** Ask an adult to place two large speaker headings by feature words; correct any mismatch using the quote. **Home:** Invent two toy opinions about a drawn object; you need not tell your own preference. ## Day 25 · Fresh Check A **Shared target:** Use the new [Window Board sources](STUDENT-CHECKS.md#check-a--day-25--window-board) for features, notice, view, question and careful conclusion. - **A · Mark:** Mark two positions, underline the notice, circle Tavi's view and add UNKNOWN for a real action. - **B · Say/AAC:** Tell the feature locations, what the notice asks, whose view it is and what is not shown. - **C · Direct:** Direct an adult to sort broad SOURCE 1/2/3 headings; give the words and reason yourself. **Home:** After the teacher collects first responses, invent a new paper notice for a toy. ## Day 26 · Match a question to a source **Shared target:** Select the source that answers a question and mark an outcome question unknown. - **A · Mark:** On the [question trail](print/question-source-trail.pdf), draw an arrow from “What does Ari name?” to C; mark “Did it help?” unknown. - **B · Say/AAC:** Name C for Ari's feature, B for Bea's instruction, and no supplied source for actual use. - **C · Direct:** Direct an adult to put broad question strips beside A/B/C/D or UNKNOWN; explain one match. **Home:** Ask which of two made-up puppet notes answers an invented question; no real data needed. ## Day 27 · Proposal or claimed effect? **Shared target:** Choose the message supported as a proposal and reject an unshown result. - **A · Mark:** On the [care mat](print/care-decision-mat.pdf), put M1 by B and M2 by UNKNOWN. - **B · Say/AAC:** Say why “could return cards” is an idea and “made everyone comfortable” is unproven. - **C · Direct:** Direct an adult to sort two large message cards into IDEA and NOT SHOWN; quote a source word. **Home:** Tell a puppet one gentle paper-care idea and one question that would test it. ## Day 28 · Include views without guessing **Shared target:** Attribute Ari and Ren and name one viewpoint still missing from the source set. - **A · Mark:** Link each speaker to a feature and draw a large blank OTHER VIEW box. - **B · Say/AAC:** Give two attributed sentences, then ask what another consenting person might think. - **C · Direct:** Tell an adult where to place ARI, REN and UNKNOWN headings; say what Ren did *not* say. **Home:** Invent a two-view discussion between toys; no personal special place is requested. ## Day 29 · Two-source account **Shared target:** Give a two-source fictional place account and one real-source question. - **A · Mark:** Use [question trail](print/question-source-trail.pdf) to draw a feature from A, a B/C/D word and an unknown. - **B · Say/AAC:** Tell “Source A shows ___; Source ___ says ___; I do not know ___.” - **C · Direct:** Direct an adult to arrange two large source pages; dictate a sentence for each and a missing-source question. **Home:** Optional adult invitation: ask a carer to invent a paper place with you. No real-place photo, address or story is required. ## Day 30 · Fresh Check B **Shared target:** Use the new [Colour Panel sources](STUDENT-CHECKS.md#check-b--day-30--colour-panel-decision) to sort, attribute, choose a careful message and name a missing check. - **A · Mark:** Circle a drawn feature, underline the notice, label Uma/Ivo views and mark SECOND POCKET: UNKNOWN. - **B · Say/AAC:** Name the drawing facts, written instruction, each speaker's view and an unproven effect. - **C · Direct:** Direct an adult to place large SOURCE 1–4 headings on the new card; you choose the careful message and reason. **Home:** After first responses, invent another card showing a wish but no completed change.
