# Optional authentic local source and cultural-authority gate

Every lesson works entirely with fictional sources. To consider actual AC9HSFK02 evidence, a school must select an **opt-in, genuinely significant event shared with the child's family and others**, identify how it was celebrated or commemorated, and verify a suitable source with permission. A school-only activity or an adult's generic tradition is not automatically evidence of that description. Offer a private non-disclosure route and never penalise refusal, lack of a family response or different ways of marking an event. Hold the relevant knowledge claim when authentic evidence is absent; continue the fictional source-skills route.

Do not ask children publicly about faith, loss, medical/safety history, migration, family structure or “why” they did not join an event. A child can pass on a question. If a real concern arises, stop the public exercise and follow local safeguarding policy without promising secrecy. Keep the minimum first-response evidence and prompts in school-approved storage; do not publish a name, photograph, quote or date without specific consent and review. A planned interview is not an obtained account; a picture of a mark is not an attendance count or person's motive.

For K01, a family-inclusive source and personal birth/raising/relationship evidence require privacy and local judgment. For K03, use an actual familiar place and the appropriate person's own meaning/care evidence; fictional Paper Room cannot do this. For AC9HSFK04, identify the school's actual Country/Place with locally recognised First Nations cultural authority and school protocol. Seek approval for local names, language, stories, ceremonies, images, audio and any public use; record source, authority, exact allowed use, attribution, audience and review date. Never invent or machine-translate local cultural content, or ask a child to speak for a community. If authority/review is unavailable, **hold the relevant knowledge claim**.

The original pack and its verifier do not grant school publication, interview, safeguarding or cultural permissions. Any real extension needs educator, family/community and local policy review.
