# School-held actual media work and context

**Why held:** AC9AMAFE01 and the Foundation achievement standard require children to encounter real arts works. Our invented geometry cannot stand in for a local maker, film, game, picture story or community reason for making media. The school selects an age-appropriate authorised work from an artist/organisation's first-party source; checks viewing, classroom display, copying, excerpting, translation and adaptation rights; and records the maker's own account of its purpose and audience. A stream or public webpage is not permission to reuse frames, characters, music or voices here.

The [QCAA Prep alignment](https://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/downloads/aciqv9/the-arts/curriculum/ac9_media_arts_prep_as_cd_alignment.pdf) anchors the row; [ACARA Media Arts examples](https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/support-resources/learning-area-resources/media_arts_examples_of_knowledge_and_skills) support inquiry into representation and audiences. For First Nations media, follow [Creative Australia's cultural and intellectual property protocols](https://creative.gov.au/first-nations-arts/protocols-for-using-first-nations-cultural-and-intellectual-property-in-the-arts) and relevant cultural authority. Do not extract restricted image, language, song, story or style. One maker is not a proxy for all communities.

**Teacher insert record:** maker and cultural authority; title/year; first-party source; exact work/version; maker-stated purpose/audience; classroom rights and restrictions; age suitability; accessible viewing description and its limits; consent/permission for any child response or display; one open observation question; unknowns. A textual synopsis can support a discussion route but does not prove the learner saw or heard the original. No child or family data are required to fill this slot.
