# Educator-only interpretation and next teaching

Keep separate from the public [G/H sheets](../STUDENT-CHECKS.md) until the first response is saved. These are intended paper solutions, not one mandatory verbal phrasing or evidence of actual audience response.

## Fresh Check G

Start: **CIRCLE front / TRIANGLE behind**, both in one frame. A model response places **TRIANGLE front / CIRCLE behind**, leaving both in the frame. The triangle’s outline continues across the overlap; a part of the circle edge is hidden by triangle. Exactly **one layer relationship** reverses. If a child deletes circle, changes frame, or says triangle is front while still visibly behind, ask them to compare “both remain?” and “whose edge is covered?” *after* saving the first response. The child may draw a different overlap location so long as the requested front relation holds.

## Fresh Check H

Start: **frame 1 WIDE: SQUARE + CIRCLE; frame 2 WIDE: SQUARE + CIRCLE**. Model response: **frame 1 WIDE: SQUARE + CIRCLE; frame 2 CLOSE: CIRCLE inside, SQUARE outside**. The two tokens need not move on the paper scene; only frame 2’s boundary changes. If the child erases SQUARE, crops frame 1 as well, or includes SQUARE in frame 2’s close view, revisit the difference between outside a border and removed from the scene. The paper response does not show an actual camera crop.

## Daily look-for and next move

Record child intention, actual card/drawing decision and adult support. `Independent` here means uncoached on the **new** check source; accessible presentation and a neutral mover are allowed. Do not use a guessed viewer reaction as the child’s evidence.

| Day | Look for | Next move if unsure |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 11 | Names front shape and an edge covered by it. | Rebuild two overlaps slowly with broad cards; describe one edge at a time. |
| 12 | Holds second panel MIDDLE while choosing first LEFT or RIGHT. | Fix frame 2 card in place and let child swap only frame 1. |
| 13 | Keeps square MIDDLE and chooses circle TOP or BOTTOM. | Use a two-cell vertical mat; do not imply universal meaning. |
| 14 | Attaches identical HERE to one chosen numbered image. | Keep images still; move only caption strip. |
| 15 | G: TRIANGLE in front of CIRCLE, both remain, with a reason. | Save first response; then use a different pair from After Check practice. |
| 16 | Reads three fixed TOP circles and child-chosen changing square positions. | Trace one token track at a time on broad numbered frames. |
| 17 | Places one optional paper TAP cue at one numbered moment and explains intention. | Hold images still; move only cue. No sound device required. |
| 18 | Child-owned three frames plus one deliberate technique and intended idea. | Ask child to direct one frame at a time; mark adult-authored parts clearly. |
| 19 | Maker/purpose questions use authorised source; sharing record names an actual willing viewer only when it happened. | Keep real source on hold if unknown; offer rehearsal/later/pass without penalty. |
| 20 | H: first stays WIDE, second CLOSE around CIRCLE, SQUARE outside frame 2. | Save first response; contrast wider versus smaller movable border on a different scene. |

**Decision use:** A correct paper choice suggests a next storyboard opportunity. An incorrect or absent choice suggests a more concrete comparison, not a diagnostic label. Physical media making, media encounters, and actual willing audience sharing need their own accessible opportunities and observations later.
