# Foundation Music / Queensland Prep · opening fortnight

Ten **25-minute** play-based starts for making tiny original sound and silence ideas. Children can choose quiet notation, large/tactile cards, a child-directed adult, an optional original audio cue, or locally approved sound-making. No child has to sing, clap, speak, hear a device, play loudly, perform publicly, disclose a home/family tradition, or have their voice or image recorded.

The [exact ACARA v9 / Queensland Prep Music crosswalk](CURRICULUM-CROSSWALK.md) uses **AC9AMUFE01, AC9AMUFD01, AC9AMUFC01 and AC9AMUFP01**. These original scores open sound/silence, duration, pitch-label and pattern choices. They do not complete Foundation Music, prove auditory discrimination from a silent card, or replace listening to authorised music from real people and communities.

The educator checks comfort, volume, sensory and communication access, local instrument hygiene/suitability, safe handling and consent. A child can stop or change route immediately. The common task is making and explaining a sound-pattern **idea**; silent notation can show that reasoning, **not** whether a child hears pitch, controls an instrument or performs music. Later accessible, educator-observed music experiences and authorised real works are needed for a broader judgment.
