# Two fresh public learner checks · two-line texture

Use each only after relevant teaching. Read the task and shape key neutrally. The learner may use the original page, exact raised strip, one column at a time, a neutral adult reading every mark, AAC/sign/words/pointing or a child-directed scribe. No sound or body action is required. A circle is A sounding; a square is B sounding; a dash is that line waiting. Save the first response before help and record access, prompts and later revision separately. A pass or inaccessible information is **unobserved**, not an ability label. These checks do not diagnose hearing, measure motor speed or establish classroom learning gains.

“Which plan has both parts start at the same places? Which plan takes turns? Show one numbered place as evidence for **each** choice. Name one thing that stays the same across the plans. What can a paper plan not prove?”

All six numbered place starts are even. T and U are unfamiliar whole layouts; do not present them as practice pairs before the check or play a matching candidate. Adult may neutrally read place 1 A then B, through place 6, without classifying plans. Record first choices, both cited places, held feature, evidence limit, support and self-revision. No compulsory auditory response.

The given plan has **A at 2,3,5 and B at 2,3,5**, waits elsewhere. The response A line is fixed at 2,3,5; B's question-mark cells are undecided.

“Make another plan. **Keep every A decision. Use exactly three B marks. Have one part sound at each of the six places and no place with both.** Put waits in the other B cells. Show which B places you removed and which you added. Tell us one place where the relationship changed, an own music reason if you wish, and what the paper cannot prove.”

Supply three square tokens and enough dash cards or a neutral scribe. Do not name B's new positions, point toward empty A cells or demonstrate the solution. Save first complete score, all removed/added positions, A holding, B count, column evidence, optional child reason and evidence limit before help. Child may self-check all columns; log revisions separately. Worked swaps and home bridges for this day follow the check.
