# Separate teacher key · Foundation Science Days 5 and 10

Read only after saving the child's **first independent** response and exact adult prompt/access mode. These are source-aware formative interpretations, not a fixed total score or full-standard/year judgment. [Check page](ASSESSMENT.md) stays teacher held until use. A real object, adult report and invented diagram are different evidence classes.

## Day 5 · actual new object or invented envelope model

| Prompt | What the source can support | Next teaching move |
|---|---|---|
| Source and date | Actual object: local object/source and actual observation date. Adult description: same object/date but attribute the adult's report; it is not child's direct sensory observation. Fallback: invented diagram and model-use date, with REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE. | If source type blurs, place ACTUAL OBJECT / ADULT REPORT / DRAWING cards beside one another and retell which was used. |
| One feature and access | Accept any accurate feature the teacher can verify **on that actual object under the recorded condition**. No fixed “flap is triangular”, “smooth” or “bends” answer is imposed. Fallback supports only drawn rectangle, triangular flap outline and circle mark, not real texture/hole/material. | Give broad outline or tactile/linear access and one exact teacher model, then try a different approved object. |
| Question and needed test | A source-bounded question might ask whether a particular real flap can lift or whether one edge is straight. A safe school-approved direct observation or adult-led gentle try with source/date would be needed. | If child gives a preference question, model “What could we observe on this object?” without forcing contact. |
| Overclaim | “Drawn circle is a real hole” unsupported; “all envelopes feel smooth” unsupported by one or no object. “This actual edge is straight in our view” can be supported **only if observed** and the edge/source are named. | Return to the exact source and use “this object in this view/try,” not “all.” |

**Use of codes:** Actual accessible sensory investigation can give partial AC9SFI02; actual observed material feature may sample AC9SFU03; a source-bounded question and dated representation can sample AC9SFI01/03. A reported adult description supports communication/reasoning but is logged as reported information. A fallback model alone is not local material-property or safe investigation evidence.

## Day 10 · new invented label diagram and optional real source

| Prompt | What the source can support | Next teaching move |
|---|---|---|
| Drawn marks | Broad rectangle outline; one wide zigzag line in upper half; two separate short horizontal bars below. Word order or equivalent tactile/AAC description is fine. | Reread exact linear description and ask child to place three broad marks in order. |
| What drawing cannot tell | Material, actual texture, location, motion, safety or whether any real object exists. Zigzag line does not prove a tear or rough edge. | Sort a drawing claim from a real-object observation with a new broad object; record source/date. |
| Separate real object | If approved and present, any exact feature actually sensed under recorded conditions, plus local object identity/date. An adult's description is reported, not the child's own sensory evidence. If absent, ACTUAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE. | Prepare an accessible new real source and try one focused feature. Do not pretend the model depicts it. |
| Mark and limit | Mark/word/tactile card must have an explained key: model line under DRAWING SHOWS; real directly noticed feature labelled DIRECT; adult description labelled ADULT REPORT. `?` means not checked. | Ask the child to point to the source for a mark and name one untested property. |

**Use of codes:** Interpreting a fictional diagram and using a provided template may contribute to representation reasoning, but AC9SFI03's **observations** and pattern component require actual observation data for those specific claims. AC9SFI02 and material content AC9SFU03 require real safe investigation/source. Share AC9SFI05 only if the child actually communicates a question/idea/observation to another person, including a consenting adult; a fictional listener model is not that event. No code is fully certified by this check.

**Record fields:** check day; exact source type, identity and date/model-use date; verified material label or UNKNOWN; what child directly accessed; adult description/prompt/movement; first child response verbatim or exact AAC/sign/point choice; later feedback/revision; safe action/result if any; one next teachable move. Keep identifiable records only in school-approved storage. Original SubjectNest key © 2026 NeuroForgeIO Pty Ltd, [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
