# Foundation / Prep Science · ten 25-minute scripts, Days 41–50

Before the week, read [real-record safety and complete original fictional sources](MATERIALS.md). Each day has **3 + 4 + 5 + 7 + 4 + 2 = 25 minutes** and three flexible [same-target routes](LEARNER-CARDS.md). Use only genuinely dated school-approved earlier Science work or a clearly dated **new** safe observation; never reconstruct a child's old prediction or result. If neither exists, write **REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE** and work with labelled fiction for source reasoning only. A maths display of twelve material-word cards is not a Science investigation record. The [fresh checks](ASSESSMENT.md) stay separate until the first independent response; [family prompts](FAMILY-OPTIONAL.md) are entirely optional.

## Week 9 · Day 41 — Which record tells us what really happened?

**Goal:** identify source/date/access and separate an actual dated Science record from a fictional story result. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFH01, AC9SFI03. **Prepare:** one approved real earlier log if present, fictional Notebook N, [source-gate](source-gate.svg), Card 41.

1. **Source boundary · 3 min.** Offer an actual school-approved dated log privately; if unavailable mark REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE. Do not expose named child work to peers.
2. **Read · 4 min.** Read Notebook N in full with FICTIONAL label and, separately, the actual log's exact source/date/action/result if one exists.
3. **Model · 5 min.** Teacher puts STORY RESULT under MODEL and genuine dated action/result under ACTUAL; an adult description stays ADULT REPORT, not the child's own direct sense.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 41 routes ask child to sort source labels, name one supported statement from their actual source or one drawn/story statement from N, and one unknown. Adult records exact words/support.
5. **Check · 4 min.** Offer “The story's tile stopped at the middle in our room.” Child corrects to “the author writes that” and names missing real event.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Choose an actual record for Day 42 or keep MODEL ONLY.

## Week 9 · Day 42 — Put a question, prediction and observation on display

**Goal:** construct a three-part source-labelled Science display without turning a fictional or missing result into actual evidence. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFI01, AC9SFI03, AC9SFI04. **Prepare:** real dated log if available, [evidence-display](evidence-display.svg), Notebook N, Card 42.

1. **Choose source · 3 min.** Confirm exact actual record/date and privacy permission. If missing, use N as an invented teaching example only.
2. **Read fields · 4 min.** Find question, prediction timing, action, result and unknown. An absent earlier prediction is written NOT RECORDED, never guessed.
3. **Model · 5 min.** Teacher displays N's question, *story* prediction and *story* result with MODEL labels; explains a story comparison is reading, not actual AC9SFI04 evidence.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 42 routes place the child's actual record in the six-box mat or label all N fields FICTIONAL. Keep actual date/source next to result; a photo remains PHOTO.
5. **Check · 4 min.** Ask what the display leaves out (release, surface, support, hidden part or other condition specific to source). Child adds UNKNOWN rather than inventing it.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Save the display privately or use a de-identified teacher copy with consent.

## Week 9 · Day 43 — Do two records answer the same question?

**Goal:** judge whether two dated actual Science records are comparable, then make a cautious same/different/insufficient statement. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFI03, AC9SFI04. **Prepare:** two school-approved earlier records if available, [compare-records](compare-records.svg), Model marks M, Card 43.

1. **Pair gate · 3 min.** Adult checks source/date and whether both records describe the same object/property/question under relevant similar conditions; if not, label INCOMPARABLE.
2. **Read · 4 min.** Name A/B actions and access routes exactly; if only one actual record exists, keep B NOT AVAILABLE.
3. **Model · 5 min.** Put two invented M diagrams side by side. Teacher says their marks can be compared as drawings, but no actual plant, motion or material event is proved.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 43 routes ask what stays same/differs in actual A/B, whether the results can answer one question, or why evidence is insufficient. Do not mix model M with an actual set.
5. **Check · 4 min.** Offer “Both pages have arrows so both real objects moved.” Child identifies diagrams/records and required actual actions.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Keep one bounded A/B sentence or a clear reason not to compare.

## Week 9 · Day 44 — Can another person follow our evidence?

**Goal:** share a source-bounded explanation and revise wording only in response to actual evidence or real listener feedback. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFH01, AC9SFI05. **Prepare:** Day 42/43 display or fictional N, Model exchange E, [next-question](next-question.svg), Card 44.

1. **Source gate · 3 min.** Check what the child's display actually contains and who may see it; private teacher audience is enough.
2. **Model · 4 min.** Read E as **invented dialogue**. The reader's question is not feedback from this classroom.
3. **Rehearse · 5 min.** Teacher models a claim with exact source and limit: “This record says … under these conditions; it does not tell …”. Do not claim “we observed” from N.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 44 routes let child explain to a consenting listener or teacher privately, then ask what source helped. Record actual listener words only if they occur.
5. **Revise/check · 4 min.** If actual feedback identifies ambiguity, child may revise one phrase; if no listener response, write NO ACTUAL LISTENER RESPONSE and revise only from source review.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Save original and revised wording separately; do not invent learning gain.

## Week 9 · Day 45 — Fresh source-and-display check

**Goal:** independently identify an unseen source, build a bounded question/result/unknown display, and reject a paper claim as real evidence. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFI01, AC9SFI02, AC9SFI03, AC9SFI05. **Prepare:** [teacher-held Day 45 check](ASSESSMENT.md), blank source/display aids, Card 45 only afterward.

1. **Welcome · 3 min.** Explain this small check informs teaching; offer direct view, attributed adult report, paper-only and pass.
2. **Retrieve · 4 min.** Revisit known N's source label only, without showing held case.
3. **Fresh source · 5 min.** Present a new approved safe object/view if available or unseen invented paper display; name local date/access or model-use date.
4. **First independent response · 7 min.** Child identifies source, poses a safe question, records what is actually observed or drawn, and one unknown. Save exact first response/prompt before teaching.
5. **Bound · 4 min.** Child chooses DIRECT / ADULT REPORT / PHOTO / MODEL and says whether an actual investigation occurred. Paper-only route stays REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE.
6. **Close · 2 min.** Use [separate key](TEACHER-KEY.md) for next move; release Card 45 practice afterward.

## Week 10 · Day 46 — Did our prediction match the record?

**Goal:** compare a genuinely earlier prediction with actual observation if both are recorded, or state why comparison is not available. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFI01, AC9SFI04. **Prepare:** one actual dated prior prediction/result pair if present, Notebook N for model-only reading, Card 46.

1. **Source gate · 3 min.** Confirm prediction timestamp/order and actual action/result. If prediction was not recorded before action, mark NOT AVAILABLE rather than fabricate it.
2. **Read · 4 min.** Adult reads exact earlier words and actual result or model N with FICTIONAL label.
3. **Model · 5 min.** Teacher compares N's prediction/result **inside the story**, then says it is not evidence that a classroom child observed movement.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 46 routes mark SAME / DIFFERENT / CANNOT COMPARE for an actual pair, with reason and source/date. A changed idea is recorded as today's idea, not an invented historical prediction.
5. **Check · 4 min.** Ask “Was a different prediction wrong?” Child explains predictions are checked against results, not judged as effort or intelligence.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Write one question the actual record still leaves open.

## Week 10 · Day 47 — Change one question, plan a safe next check

**Goal:** pose a next safe question tied to an existing actual result and specify the source/action needed without predicting an invented outcome. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFH01, AC9SFI01, AC9SFI02. **Prepare:** one actual earlier log or N model, [next-question](next-question.svg), Card 47.

1. **Source · 3 min.** Name actual dated record or MODEL ONLY. If a prior attempt was unsafe/unavailable, do not promise to repeat it.
2. **Unknown · 4 min.** Child identifies one precise unknown from that source, such as a hidden feature, a second movement condition or a material part.
3. **Model · 5 min.** Teacher turns N's missing flat-lane surface into a future safe question; it remains NOT TESTED without an approved real trial.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 47 asks child to choose a safe source/method and state what to keep the same or what new evidence would help, with adult preflight in future.
5. **Check · 4 min.** Child separates their prediction from a result box and names local approval, access or privacy need; no unsupervised home experiment is assigned.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Save one feasible next teaching invitation, not a promised outcome.

## Week 10 · Day 48 — Will the same evidence rule work in a new topic?

**Goal:** apply source/unknown reasoning to plant/animal feature, object movement and material-property examples, without treating invented marks as events. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFU01, AC9SFU02, AC9SFU03, AC9SFI03. **Prepare:** Model marks M1/M2/M3, source choice S, actual records only if available, Card 48.

1. **Label · 3 min.** Present M1/M2/M3 as invented drawings. No local plant, moving object or surface is supplied by them.
2. **Read · 4 min.** Child identifies one exact drawn mark on each and selects the source type MODEL.
3. **Model · 5 min.** Teacher chooses M2: “The arrow points right. To say how a real object moved, I need an approved actual dated trial.” Repeat source logic, not a new science fact.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 48 routes ask one safe question for each domain and choose what real source could answer it. If a real dated earlier record exists, child may link it separately with exact provenance.
5. **Check · 4 min.** Offer “M1 proves this species has two leaves.” Child repairs to drawing marks and unknown species/real features.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Child names which of the three needs a future local observation; do not credit content codes from drawings alone.

## Week 10 · Day 49 — Make a private Science handover

**Goal:** select one or two actual dated Science samples where available, say what each demonstrates and what remains unobserved, and choose a next teaching move. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFH01, AC9SFI03, AC9SFI05. **Prepare:** private school-approved records, [handover page](handover.svg), Card 49.

1. **Privacy gate · 3 min.** Teacher retrieves only approved child work privately; if none exists, a new response today is labelled NEW EVIDENCE or model-only, not an old achievement.
2. **Choose · 4 min.** Child chooses up to two real source-linked pieces or says they prefer one; no ranking against peers.
3. **Model · 5 min.** Teacher uses fictional E to show “I can say what the drawing shows; I cannot claim a class result.” No imagined growth line.
4. **Child try · 7 min.** Card 49 routes invite child to show actual source/date, what they did or reported, support/access and an unknown; adult scribes exact response.
5. **Next move · 4 min.** Teacher identifies one safe invitation based on available evidence; NOT OBSERVED means evidence is missing, not the child cannot do it.
6. **Exit · 2 min.** Keep the handover in school custody; family sharing only via school-approved private channels.

## Week 10 · Day 50 — Fresh end-of-term source transfer check

**Goal:** independently make a source-bounded claim, reject an unsupported fictional result, and choose an honest next question. **Proposed codes:** AC9SFI01, AC9SFI02, AC9SFI03, AC9SFI04, AC9SFI05. **Prepare:** unseen [Day 50 teacher check](ASSESSMENT.md), blank display/handover, Card 50 only afterward.

1. **Welcome · 3 min.** State that one check informs the next lessons; it does not certify Science for the year. Offer private, no-touch, adult-report, paper and pass routes.
2. **Retrieve · 4 min.** Review only general source labels from S, not the held object/model or answer.
3. **Fresh source · 5 min.** Introduce a newly approved local object/source if possible, or an unseen invented two-part source; mark date/access accurately.
4. **First independent response · 7 min.** Child names source, one exact feature or model mark, one safe question/prediction, and what is unobserved. If actual trial occurs, save result separately; no prewritten outcome.
5. **Bound · 4 min.** Child compares prediction only with actual later result, not invented text; chooses one safe follow-up.
6. **Close · 2 min.** Use [separate key](TEACHER-KEY.md). The handover draws on multiple suitable samples when available, not this check alone.
