# Separate teacher key · after first independent response

Use exact child response, support, prompt and source/date/access before any teaching correction. There is **no fixed real-object or movement answer**: actual school sources vary. A pass or “unknown/not tested” is recorded honestly, not converted to a guessed score. These are small formative samples; a Term 1 or whole Foundation Science judgment requires multiple suitable actual samples and the locally adopted standard.

## Day 45

**Actual object:** Accept any exact external feature actually available on the newly approved object. Verified material labels require a teacher source; an opaque/coloured part alone does not prove composition. A visible seam or two parts does not by itself establish two different materials. If materials are independently verified, the child may describe those verified parts and observable properties separately. Neutral adult description is ADULT REPORT, not the child's direct sense. A specific safe next question and UNKNOWN for unverified features are good responses.

**Invented K:** Stepped outline, two large circular outlines high inside, one diagonal slash low inside; caption claims two materials. The caption and drawing **do not** verify any real materials, holes, buttons, texture or object. A model-use date is not an observation date. The child may say “The drawing shows two circles” and “I need a real verified object/source to know material.” Do not credit AC9SFU03 actual composition/property or AC9SFI02 actual safe-investigation evidence from K.

**Next teaching move:** If model words become fact, place caption under CLAIM and marks under DRAWING SHOWS. If material is guessed by colour, show how an adult verifies a label. If the child sources carefully, invite a locally safe actual composite view later. Keep private records, not a public display.

## Day 50

**Actual object:** Accept whatever the new broad object really did on the approved flat lane, including staying still, sliding, rolling, turning or another witnessed outcome, with exact action/surface/date. “It will always slide” is an unsupported general claim before and after one try. Compare a prediction only if it preceded the action and an actual result was recorded. Adult report stays attributed; no result is invented when safety stops the try. A source-bounded claim is “this object [actual result] in this one try under these conditions”; next question may change one condition safely with teacher approval.

**Invented L:** Broad square border, central kite-shaped outline, three short horizontal stripes low inside, and printed “It will always slide.” These marks do not depict verified motion, a real kite, a measured route, source material or result. The caption is a claim. A child may describe the marks and ask what a specific safe real object would do; actual result remains **REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE / NOT TESTED**. Do not compare a prediction to the imagined caption as though it were observed.

**Next teaching move:** If child calls a caption evidence, sort CLAIM / QUESTION / ACTUAL RESULT. If they fill a result before action, rehearse the sequence with a blank mat. If they can source and bound a real result, invite another safe condition later. The handover records what is observed and what remains unobserved; do not infer personal growth or full-year mastery from this check.
