# Two fresh paper checks · educator-held until first response

These original cases are public resources but should be kept unseen during practice. They assess reasoning about a **supplied fictional record**, not a child's direct sensory investigation or whole-year achievement. Offer exact read-aloud, sign, AAC, pointing or child-directed scribing without answer cues. Record first independent response, support, later change and next teaching step separately. Pace or split the sitting; reading/writing speed is not the criterion.

## Day 155 · fresh Case AH

**New source: fictional notebook KITE WINDOW 61.** The invented observer used the same large kite target, viewing place and ordinary room light for two covers. Before testing, the observer wrote: **“I think I will see the kite through both covers.”**

Ask exactly:

1. Which cover's recorded view matches the observer's prediction? Tell or show where the notebook says so.

3. Can this notebook tell us that every clear panel is strong enough for a roof? What would we need to find out?

Do not require a named polymer, reading the IDs independently or a specific oral sentence. This source says nothing about roof strength.

## Day 160 · fresh Case AI

**New source: fictional object POSTCARD VIEWER 84.** It has two parts. The adult's reliable materials note says **FRAME: stiff paperboard; PANEL: clear flexible plastic**. An invented observer wrote **“From the marked viewing place, I could see the postcard's big oval through the panel. I could not see it through the frame.”** There is no bend, scratch, outdoor, load or water test.

Ask exactly:

1. Show or tell the two parts and the two materials reported in the source.
2. Which part's recorded property helps someone see the oval, and what does the source actually say?
3. A helper asks “Will this object keep a real postcard dry outdoors?” Can the source answer that? Give one useful next question for an approved adult.

No real water test is required or invited. This case can establish interpretation of material/part/property information only.

Use the [separate key](TEACHER-KEY.md) after the first response is saved. Rehearsal or an adult explanation does not become independent evidence. For direct sensory/investigation claims based only on these cases, record **REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE**.
