# Crossing paper art and maker cards

Broad paper bands can hide and reappear. Children choose crossing order, spacing, marks, meaning and a use for their original small art panel. They try one manageable part, keep or change a choice, then make a short picture card that explains their own process. Keep privately, choose a quiet desk display, or offer art to a willing recipient. A child need not share publicly, thread paper, touch materials, write or speak to retain ownership of art decisions.

Progression from [W17–18](../weeks-17-18/README.md): rubbing/selected collage patches → front/behind paper crossings → original panel → a truthful maker card. Integrated [W19](../../../term-2/week-19-what-a-test-tells-us.md) concerns evidence from a particular test; our art trial describes only what happened with this paper. Integrated [W20](../../../term-2/week-20-teach-someone-else.md) selects dated samples and explains a choice. The art record does not substitute for the ramp experiment, number explanation, music task or whole midyear portfolio.

## Start here

1. Read [materials and access](MATERIALS.md). Adult prepares broad bands before class. Offer a no-threading flat collage/drawing route and a no-material directing route.
2. Teach [daily scripts](LESSONS.md), with [three same-goal routes and optional home bridges](LEARNER-CARDS.md). [Twenty worked choices](PRACTICE-SWAPS.md) are teacher practice models; check-day models wait until first check capture.
3. Choose any useful [eight A4 SVG/PDF pairs and exact text/tactile alternatives](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md). Printing all eight is unnecessary. PDF text is searchable but not tagged; the linear alternative is the accessible reading copy.
4. Optional [offline crossing planner](digital/README.md) changes only a plan. Paper/directing routes are complete.
5. Hold [fresh checks AA/AB](STUDENT-CHECKS.md) for Days 95/100. Keep [teacher key/next teaching](teacher/KEY-AND-NEXT.md) separate. Checks are short teaching samples, not timed performance or a term grade.
