# Cut-apart learner practice · adult context, controlled child print

**For the adult:** Read the context aloud; it is **not** assigned for child decoding. Cut or copy only one option at a time. The only print assigned for independent reading is the text after **Child reads**. A child may point-track, use tactile letters, sign, AAC, speech or direct an adult, with decoding prompts recorded. Names Sam, Tim, Chad and Stan, the high-frequency `a` /ə/ and `is` /ɪz/, short-vowel single-letter correspondences, `sh`, `ch`, initial `st` and final `nd` were introduced in the [previous fortnight](../weeks-01-02/README.md); confirm the actual learner's teaching. Do not use Week 4 A print before `ck` is taught. All people, places and animals below are **invented** scenes, not observations of real life.

**Response on any card:** I read ____ by myself / with ____ prompt. The line means ____ (point, draw, sign, AAC or say). I can build/write one word from the line: ____. Practice choices do not include held-out check words.
