# Design lab · first ten sessions

These are invented briefs. A sentence in a card is evidence **within the fictional story**, not evidence about real people. Do not share your own accessibility, health, family, cultural or money details. Choose a route from [daily choices](DAILY-CHOICES.md), or ask for the same work in a readable format. Your teacher can supply large-print or movable-word materials. Label sources and keep a question open when the brief does not answer it.

| Day | Read or use | Your one-page result |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | [Card A](BRIEF-CARDS.md#card-a--lantern-library-loan-game-shelf) | Match two design roles to different outputs. Name one stakeholder need, then one fact you would still have to find. |
| 2 | [Cards A/B](BRIEF-CARDS.md) | Label two stated story facts, one cautious inference and one unsupported claim. Rewrite the claim as a question. |
| 3 | [Card B](BRIEF-CARDS.md#card-b--backstage-entry-board) | Write one specific “How might…” problem with reader, function, present problem and two constraints. Add one unknown. |
| 4 | [Card C](BRIEF-CARDS.md#card-c--tool-return-tray) | Write two criteria you can inspect on a paper tray and name one real-world measurement still missing. |
| 5 | [File G](STUDENT-CHECKS.md#file-g--paper-path) | First-encounter check: identify evidence, write a bounded problem, two criteria and a limit. Work from G only. |
| 6 | [Card D](BRIEF-CARDS.md#card-d--pool-club-practice-board) | Make a labelled layout for four group placeholders and an update date. Annotate one choice; say what remains unknown. |
| 7 | [Card E](BRIEF-CARDS.md#card-e--pocket-exhibition-map) | Show two different labelled maps. Keep the stated corridor and mark the desk. Name the meaningful difference. |
| 8 | [Card F](BRIEF-CARDS.md#card-f--seed-share-instruction-card) | Compare X and Y against two criteria. Name one visible strength, one limit and a proposed combined change. |
| 9 | [Card F](BRIEF-CARDS.md#card-f--seed-share-instruction-card) | Show a before/after rough card. Mark one improvement, whose need it serves, and what has not been tested. |
| 10 | [File H](STUDENT-CHECKS.md#file-h--studio-swap) | Second first-encounter check: problem, two spatial ideas, one revision and evidence limit. Work from H only. |

**Before submitting:** Can someone point to the card line behind your need? Can they find the feature on your sketch, tile arrangement or digital diagram? Have you written “might” where a result has not been tested? A rough, legible prototype is useful; polished artwork is optional. [Full text alternatives to the four visual aids](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md) are available.
