# Year 11 Design · the first ten sessions

**Queensland General elective.** Ten 25-minute sessions for the opening of Unit 1, *Stakeholder-centred design*, Topic 1, *Designing for others*. This is a 250-minute starting sequence, not the complete 55-hour unit or a Year 11 course. It follows the [current QCAA Design 2025 v1.3 syllabus](https://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/downloads/senior-qce/syllabuses/snr_design_25_syll.pdf), checked 29 September 2026. The [crosswalk](CURRICULUM-CROSSWALK.md) states exactly what is practised and what remains for the school.

Start with the [teacher scripts](LESSONS.md), [fictional brief cards](BRIEF-CARDS.md), and [clean learner tasks](LEARNER.md). Each day has [three switchable access and response routes](DAILY-CHOICES.md), an [optional extra](DAILY-EXTRAS.md), and a quick record in the [public teacher key and next moves](teacher/ANSWER-AND-NEXT.md). Give students the [public formative checks](STUDENT-CHECKS.md) on Days 5 and 10 before the teacher key if you want a first encounter. **The key is publicly accessible by URL; these are not secure exams or school assessment instruments.** Replace a check locally if prior access matters.

Four [original A4 aids](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md) can be printed, viewed as SVG, read as full text, or made with full-word tactile cards. A pen and paper suffice; no account, personal disclosure, real client, product construction, sharp tool or digital connection is required. Students may invent a different safe fictional setting while keeping the same design reasoning target. Never treat a fictional user statement as evidence about real disability, culture, community or market behaviour. Invite genuine stakeholder input only through the school's consent and safeguarding processes.

The target is to move from **source → stakeholder need → constraint → criterion → different low-fidelity ideas → justified revision**, without claiming a mock design has been tested or solves a real person's problem. The student may sketch, arrange labelled pieces, or use an accessible digital drawing/diagram. Spatial representation is still required on the representation days; speech or typing can carry its annotations. The teacher records when a prompt supplied content rather than access.

All original learning copy, fictional cases, keys and diagrams in this folder are offered under CC BY 4.0; QCAA wording is cited, not relicensed. See [source and rights](SOURCE-AND-RIGHTS.md) and [desk review](QA-RUN-THROUGH.md). No classroom pilot or accessibility user test has occurred.
