# Exact text and tactile alternatives · eight original sheets

The first six are regular aids; G/H are fresh public checks. This file repeats every visible label and the full diagram description. No meaning relies only on colour, voice or image. A learner may direct paper markers without role-play or touch another person.

## A · The unmarked parcel

**Exact diagram description:** Original four-line fictional object-library scene. MIN reports a blank destination card; JO says the trolley leaves in two minutes; MIN suggests checking a closed ledger; JO says to hold the door. MIN points to the ledger, JO faces a doorway, and both pause two counts. No destination is shown.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- SUBJECTNEST / YEAR 11 / DRAMA
- A · The unmarked parcel
- A · THE UNMARKED PARCEL
- Fictional object-library counter; four original lines.
- MIN: “The destination card is blank.”
- JO: “The last trolley leaves in two minutes.”
- MIN: “The ledger is here. We can check.”
- JO: “Then hold the door.”
- Stage action: MIN points to a closed ledger. JO faces a
- doorway. Both pause for two counts; the scene ends before a
- destination is chosen.
- Use exact line and pause evidence. No role-play required.
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.
- Original A4 aid | exact text + tactile route | CC BY 4.0

**Tactile route:** Lay four line cards in order. Add raised ledger and doorway markers. After the fourth line, count two silent beats.

## B · Stage and sightline map

**Exact diagram description:** Top-view original fictional stage: ledger rectangle at left, counter rectangle in centre, door rectangle at right; MIN card down-left, JO card down-right. Audience is a line below both role cards. The two proposed turns change visible focus.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- JO
- AUDIENCE
- Compare: turn MIN toward the ledger on “check”, or turn JO toward
- the door on “two minutes”. Which audience cue arrives first?
- Move one card; cite the line that motivates it.
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.

**Tactile route:** On a plain table place ledger left, counter centre and door right. Put MIN below left and JO below right; audience is the near edge. Move one role marker only with consent.

## C · Three action beats

**Exact diagram description:** Three original vertical event cards: notice blank card, identify closed ledger, hold door while destination remains unresolved. They are displayed in linear time order.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- SUBJECTNEST / YEAR 11 / DRAMA
- C · Three action beats
- C · THREE ACTION BEATS
- 1 · NOTICE
- A blank destination card is seen.
- 2 · VERIFY
- The closed ledger becomes an option.
- 3 · HOLD
- The door is held; destination unresolved.
- Put the event cards in time order. Each beat changes what an
- audience can know; do not invent the correct destination.
- What new information enters on each beat?
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.
- Original A4 aid | exact text + tactile route | CC BY 4.0

**Tactile route:** Make three raised cards labelled NOTICE, VERIFY and HOLD. Arrange top to bottom or left to right; describe the new information at each step.

## D · Pause placement

**Exact diagram description:** Two side-by-side original script versions keep MIN and JO lines and one two-count pause. Version 1 pauses after MIN says We can check; version 2 pauses after JO says Then hold the door. Only the pause placement changes.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- SUBJECTNEST / YEAR 11 / DRAMA
- D · Pause placement
- D · MOVE A TWO-COUNT PAUSE
- VERSION 1
- MIN: “We can check.”
- PAUSE · 1 · 2
- JO: “Then hold the door.”
- VERSION 2
- MIN: “We can check.”
- JO: “Then hold the door.”
- PAUSE · 1 · 2
- Same four lines, same two counted beats. Which information sits
- beside the pause now? Explain a possible effect with line-level
- evidence.
- A possible effect needs line-level evidence.
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.

**Tactile route:** Place two identical line pairs. Put one raised PAUSE card after MIN in version 1 and after JO in version 2. Count the same two beats in both.

## E · Linear and non-linear order

**Exact diagram description:** Two rows of three original event cards. Top: blank card, ledger, door held. Bottom: door held, then an explicitly labelled EARLIER blank card and EARLIER ledger. Events are the same; opening order differs.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- SUBJECTNEST / YEAR 11 / DRAMA
- E · Linear and non-linear order
- E · ONE STORY, TWO ORDERS
- LINEAR
- NON-LINEAR OPENING
- 1 · blank card
- 2 · ledger
- 3 · door held
- 3 · door held
- EARLIER 1 · blank
- card
- EARLIER 2 · ledger
- Both versions contain the same three fictional events. The word
- EARLIER labels the return in time; without it, the time shift
- may be unclear.
- Where does the audience first meet the question?
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.
- Original A4 aid | exact text + tactile route | CC BY 4.0

**Tactile route:** Create two rows of three labelled cards. Top order 1-2-3. Bottom order 3-1-2, with EARLIER on the last two. Feel or read the order before describing audience knowledge.

## F · Decision log

**Exact diagram description:** Original worked directing example: MIN turns to ledger on check; purpose is to make verification visible; evidence is line 3 and direction; audience reaction is not guaranteed. Four blank response prompts follow.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- SUBJECTNEST / YEAR 11 / DRAMA
- F · Decision log
- F · DIRECTOR DECISION LOG
- WORKED PRACTICE
- Choice: MIN turns toward ledger on “check”.
- Purpose: make verification visible before action.
- Evidence: line 3 + changed direction of MIN card.
- Limit: no audience reaction is guaranteed.
- YOUR CHOICE:
- YOUR PURPOSE:
- LINE / SPACE / TIME EVIDENCE:
- POSSIBLE READING + LIMIT:
- Choose; cite; explain; name a limit.
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.
- Original A4 aid | exact text + tactile route | CC BY 4.0

**Tactile route:** Use four large-print or raised-label cards: CHOICE, PURPOSE, EVIDENCE, POSSIBLE READING + LIMIT. A neutral scribe records the learner’s decisions.

## G · The folded map

**Exact diagram description:** New original four-line maker-lab scene. TALA says the arrow points both ways. NORI says a model goes on display in one minute. TALA suggests turning paper to see a key; NORI says the key belongs to another model. Map and model are separate rectangles; no correct route is revealed.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- SUBJECTNEST / YEAR 11 / DRAMA
- G · The folded map
- NEW G · THE FOLDED MAP
- Fictional maker lab; no actual place or culture.
- TALA: “The arrow points both ways.”
- NORI: “The model goes on display in one minute.”
- TALA: “Turn the paper; the back has a key.”
- NORI: “Wait. The key is for another model.”
- FOLDED MAP
- MODEL
- The map and model are separated. The script does not reveal a
- correct route or the audience’s reaction.
- New check: choose a stage decision; keep the facts.
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.
- Original A4 aid | exact text + tactile route | CC BY 4.0

**Tactile route:** Make four dialogue cards in the printed order. Put a map marker left and model marker right. Move either only under the learner’s exact direction; do not reveal a route.

## H · The empty hook

**Exact diagram description:** New original four-line display-room scene. SA says the card is ready. TEO says the model is on the workbench. SA says putting the card up creates expectation. TEO proposes showing the empty hook first. Hook, card and model are three separate rectangles. No finished display is shown.

**Every printed label in reading order:**

- SUBJECTNEST / YEAR 11 / DRAMA
- H · The empty hook
- NEW H · THE EMPTY HOOK
- Fictional display room; no actual people or place.
- SA: “The display card is ready.”
- TEO: “The model is still on the workbench.”
- SA: “If we put the card up now, they expect it.”
- TEO: “Then show the empty hook first.”
- HOOK
- CARD
- MODEL
- The card is ready, the model is elsewhere, and the hook is
- empty. The audience has not yet seen a finished display.
- New check: compare two orders; cite what is shown.
- Fictional and original · directing or analysis route always available.
- Original A4 aid | exact text + tactile route | CC BY 4.0

**Tactile route:** Place separate raised cards labelled HOOK, CARD and MODEL. The model stays away from the hook at first. Arrange a linear and changed opening under learner direction.
