# Two optional worked swaps for every day

Use one as a fresh guided example or extension after the core task. All quantities and institutions are **fictional**. A swap changes the life context while preserving that day's target. These worked models are teacher-facing for explanation; if used as an unseen learner task, hide the worked line first. No student shares private financial or household data.

| Day | Swap 1 · worked | Swap 2 · worked |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | **Community radio:** one studio room can host an interview or a rehearsal at the same hour. The constraint is room time; radio organisers choose; the unused feasible session is forgone. Scarcity does not mean no room exists. | **Garden club:** one watering crew can cover a herb plot or seedlings in the same hour. The crew is the scarce input; the club chooses; one care task is forgone. Which crop matters more is unknown. |
| 2 | **Poster shop:** using the final hour for captions forgoes the stated next-best task of printing 18 flyers. Opportunity cost = **18 flyers**, not 18 dollars. | **Repair café:** using two hours for bike checks forgoes the stated next-best task of fixing 5 lamps. Opportunity cost = **5 lamp repairs**; users' relative benefit is unknown. |
| 3 | **Makerspace:** one open slot, laser-cut signs or mending lessons. What = choose a session; how = use the shared equipment safely (method needs specification); for whom = user access criteria unknown. Full use can coexist with unfair access. | **Park notice team:** one crew, large-type trail maps or directional boards. What = type/quantity; how = staff/material plan; for whom = whose routes get signs. Counting signs alone cannot establish equitable distribution. |
| 4 | **Recording room:** room/site = land-related input, editor = labour, microphone = produced capital, organiser = entrepreneurial ability. Model incomes respectively rent, wages, interest, profit; no actual payment follows. | **Greenhouse:** site/water = land/natural input, planter = labour, manufactured tray = capital, coordinator = entrepreneurial ability. Distinguish the coordinator's organising function from their hours of labour; no income figures are stated. |
| 5 | **After File G only — reading booth:** 4 volunteer-hours; last hour spent on oral help forgoes stated next-best 8 printed guides. Cost = **8 guides**, not $8; missing information is who needs either format. | **After File G only — festival map desk:** a room/site, helper, reusable display and organiser map to land, labour, capital and entrepreneurial ability. These are factor categories, not proof of rent, wages, interest or profit. |
| 6 | **Music room mini-PPF:** maximum pairs (rehearsals, recordings) = (0,6), (1,5), (2,3). At one rehearsal, maximum recordings = **5**. Label both axes before connecting discrete points. | **Tool shed mini-PPF:** maximum pairs (fixes, guides) = (0,8), (1,7), (2,4). Pair (1,6) is **inside** because 7 guides are possible with one fix under fixed inputs. |
| 7 | **Food garden model:** maximum pairs (beds, compost bags) = (0,10), (1,8), (2,5). Moving 1→2 beds forgoes **3 compost bags**; this is movement along its frontier, not a capacity shift. | **Archive model:** maximum pairs (digitised files, catalogues) = (0,9), (1,7), (2,4). (1,5) is inside; (2,7) is beyond the stated maximum. Neither position alone identifies its cause. |
| 8 | **Repair tent technique:** old maximum at 2 fixes is 4 guides; proposed trial makes (2,6) possible with same stated inputs. One new point suggests an outward opportunity, but **does not draw a complete new frontier** or establish a real productivity gain. | **Studio training:** old maximum at 3 recordings is 0 lessons; proposed point is (3,2). Training time and repeatability are unspecified, so mark this a **conditional model possibility**, not proved national growth. |
| 9 | **Library:** on-frontier A = 2 pop-ups + 7 repairs, B = 3 pop-ups + 4 repairs. Choosing B for pop-ups forgoes **3 repairs**. Which is fairer needs who can attend/use them. | **Art room:** on-frontier A = 1 mural + 5 workshops, B = 2 murals + 2 workshops. B adds a mural and forgoes **3 workshops**; a fairness conclusion needs access and preference evidence. |
| 10 | **After File H only — park model:** maximum (shade spots, benches) = (0,9), (1,8), (2,6), (3,3). 1→2 shade spots costs **2 benches**; (2,5) is inside. | **After File H only — media lab:** maximum (podcasts, transcript sets) = (0,7), (1,6), (2,4), (3,0). 1→2 podcasts costs **2 transcript sets**; the table does not tell which accessibility outcome is better. |

These swaps are illustrative rather than a claim that a real venue, service or country has these trade-offs. For current source work, use the [source slot](CURRENT-SOURCE-SLOT.md).
