# Optional practice swaps · two new contexts per day

Use a swap when a class needs more transfer or a different domain. Each is a **fictional, original prompt**. Keep the same day goal, ask learners for a text detail and its effect on a reader, and collect a small response. These are prompts, not verified public information or real safety instructions.

## Day 1 · Notice transfer

- **Community choir:** “Thursday rehearsal now starts in the small hall at 6:30. Enter beside the bicycle racks.” Who needs this, and which words tell them what to do?
- **Makerspace:** “The Saturday stencil session uses the rear studio, not the foyer. Ask at the foyer desk if the rear door is locked.” Which fallback helps a first-time visitor?

## Day 2 · Sequence transfer

- **Mobile library cart:** “Before opening: sort returns. During service: place requests on the red shelf. At close: record the remaining requests.” Explain why the headings prevent an out-of-order action.
- **Theatre costume desk:** “Collect; label; return.” Write one sentence that identifies who receives an unlabelled item before it goes back on a rack.

## Day 3 · Handover transfer

- **Podcast booth:** “The cue sheet is in Folder B.” “Which version?” “The one dated Monday; read the last cue aloud before recording.” Name the uncertainty and the confirming words.
- **Bicycle display:** “Put the tags on the samples.” “All samples?” “Only the three marked with yellow dots.” Recast the exchange as a precise note without inventing a location.

## Day 4 · Register transfer

- **Community kitchen poster:** Compare “Come help sometime” with “Help plate the mock tasting samples from 3:00 to 3:30; meet at the sign-in table.” Which details support action? No food-safety claim is implied.
- **Art-market chat:** “Bring the bits” becomes “Bring the printed stall labels to the information tent at 8:45.” Draft a respectful question if the second message still omits who to ask for.

## Day 5 · Scope transfer

- **Tool library demo:** A greeter shows where sample tools are displayed and refers repair questions to the coordinator. Write a welcome that keeps that boundary.
- **Local-history exhibit:** A guide may point to the timeline but must not guess an unknown date. Explain how a referral line can keep a visitor informed.

## Day 6 · Representation transfer

- **Fictional game stream:** A clip shows a design team cheering at one finished screen. Explain what work the clip may leave invisible.
- **Fictional dance tour teaser:** Quick cuts show a stage manager counting down, then a calm group check. What different impressions do the two shots make?

## Day 7 · Credit transfer

- **Film club credits:** A card says “Edited by the crew”; the notes name one person for sound, one for captions and one for cutting. Revise the credit using only these roles.
- **Community map zine:** The cover says “A group project”; the inside page names illustrators but not the person who checked directions. Explain the representation gap without inventing names.

## Day 8 · Audience transfer

- **Sports centre post:** A trial quiet room is available only for Sunday's open day, while a draft post says “quiet room now available”. Revise its scope kindly.
- **Small museum:** A draft says “all tours have caption cards”; the internal note confirms only Saturday's demonstration tour. Write a truthful invitation and source note.

## Day 9 · Source transfer

- **Garden show board:** A chat says “the doors open at eight”; the signed schedule says exhibitors set up at eight and visitors enter at nine. Write the two audience-specific lines.
- **Youth arts festival:** An undated flyer says “Friday”; a later organiser message says “Saturday rehearsal, Friday performance”. What must be verified before changing the public programme?

## Day 10 · Revision transfer

- **Community-radio desk:** Replace “the sheet is somewhere else” using the confirmed detail “cue sheet at the blue desk by the entrance”; do not add new duties.
- **Paper-lantern display:** Replace “tell them the change” using “visitor route starts at Gate C at 11:00; volunteers arrive at 10:30”. Write one public and one staff line.
