# Two optional life-domain swaps for every day · with worked guidance

These are **extra fictional prompts**, never actual hazard advice, local intelligence or official maps. Use one to connect a lesson to interests and settings beyond the core case; the target remains source→spatial inference→limit. All counts belong only to the sentence supplied. A student may choose any context without disclosing personal experience. For real places, replace the invention with a sourced, permission-cleared, current dataset and local guidance. No example below completes QCAA's authentic two-location case study.

| Day | Swap A · setting, prompt and worked guidance | Swap B · different setting, prompt and worked guidance |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | **Community garden:** Model heavy rain leads to creek overflow; two planting beds sit in labelled M cells. State process→zone→exposure. **Work:** “overflow→M→two beds”; crop loss is unknown without actual depth/duration. | **Night-shift depot:** A shaking scenario has three vehicle bays in a marked zone. **Work:** fault slip is a geological process; three bays are assets, not three injured workers or a recorded disaster. |
| 2 | **Bike path on a slope:** Invented saturated debris moves downslope and blocks one path segment. **Work:** geomorphic movement with possible rain influence; do not say every slope failure needs rain. | **Ferry port:** Imagined fault rupture creates shaking at a coastal terminal. **Work:** distinguish geological rupture from exposure of the terminal; no tsunami is asserted from that information alone. |
| 3 | **Food market grid:** In a north-up 2×2 model, kiosk at A1 is west of clinic pop-up at B1; cells are 50 m wide. **Work:** one cell east is 50 m *in the model*, with no real location. | **Sports precinct:** North-up cells B2 and B3 share a column; B3 is south. **Work:** a category key of H/M/L gives relative model zones only; H does not mean a measured depth. |
| 4 | **Library branches:** Fictional M cells contain 2, 1 and 4 book-drop sites. **Work:** 2+1+4=7 *sites in M*, not seven damaged libraries; conditions are unknown. | **Farm sheds:** Model H cell has zero sheds, M has 3 and L has 5. **Work:** recorded shed exposure H0/M3/L5; “H is safe” fails because people, roads and livestock were not counted. |
| 5 | **Festival access:** If a fresh model grid has M stalls 4+6 and L stalls 8, **Work:** M=10 stall sites, L=8; it says nothing about visitors. Treat this as an optional new practice after File G, never a substitute for the held-out check. | **School supplies depot:** Cells C1/C2 list 7 and 9 boxes while only C2 is H. **Work:** 9 boxes in the H-labelled cell, not 16; “boxes lost” is unsupported. |
| 6 | **Telehealth clinic:** Two fictional clinics share the same H label and 3 rooms each; one has tested backup power, the other has none recorded. **Work:** equal room exposure; backup is a capacity difference, but actual service continuity is unknown. | **Concert hall:** Two halls each have 100 seats in M; one has a practised accessible notice channel, one has no record of testing. **Work:** compare channel evidence without assuming patrons' abilities or harm. |
| 7 | **Food delivery:** Scenario A onset 15 minutes/duration 1 hour, scenario B onset 12 hours/duration 2 days. **Work:** two dimensions differ; neither gives how often a closure occurs or whether food spoiled. | **Museum archive:** A 45-second shaking scenario versus a 3-day water scenario. **Work:** duration alone cannot rank archive losses; construction, water level and protective systems are missing. |
| 8 | **Pharmacy network:** Fictional bridge B2 is closed; pharmacy C2 remains open. **Work:** being open does not establish access from west of B2; a verified alternate route is needed. | **Youth orchestra:** A rehearsal space is in a lower-labelled cell but the only supplied equipment-van route crosses a closed M cell. **Work:** access may be disrupted even if the room itself is lower exposure. |
| 9 | **Mobile meal service:** 18 deliveries use a western route out of 40 total in a fictional brief. **Work:** 18 deliveries are route-linked, not 18 failed deliveries; ask the transport authority to verify an alternative before any instruction. | **Public pool:** Two model sites have 12 assets in M, but only one has a tested warning relay. **Work:** an additional capacity difference merits checking; a national-income label cannot be inferred from it. |
| 10 | **Art studio slope:** New imagined toe-of-slope workshop has 5 stored works, with no building-stability data. **Work:** five exposed items in the model; no damage or individual safety conclusion. Use only as follow-up after File H. | **Outdoor market slope:** Imagined uphill movement corridor passes a stall row; the table lists 6 stalls in corridor and 9 elsewhere. **Work:** six *stall sites* overlap the corridor, not six harmed sellers; a real site's geology and controls need expert evidence. |

**Teacher coaching:** For every swap ask “Where is it? Why there? What is actually counted? What is the next source?” The worked line is a model of cautious geographic communication, not a final real-world risk estimate. Invite student-suggested domains such as craft, coding infrastructure, sport, caring work or public transport, then invent only bounded source facts and keep the same reasoning target.
