# Ten optional 35-minute teacher scripts · Days 21–30

Prepare the specific [original source pair](SOURCE-CARDS.md), one [learner choice card](LEARNER.md), and the [public teacher-targeted key](teacher/KEY-AND-NEXT.md). Each day totals **4 + 5 + 7 + 11 + 5 + 3 = 35 minutes**. The shared evidence target is (1) exact text maker/audience and one foregrounding or cropping choice, (2) correct model with unit and base, and (3) a revised public sentence that does not turn the model into a real-world recommendation. Choose A/B/C for the 11-minute response; all routes target the same reasoning and may be switched. Keep English text reasoning and General Mathematics reasoning visible separately. Neither the source pair nor its public check is a QCAA assessment instrument.

## Day 21 · The extra hours did not make the whole shift

**0–4 launch:** Display only the Clockwork Museum caption and ask what *two late hours* foregrounds. **4–9 source:** Attribute the fictional editor, describe the gloved-hand crop, then reveal the separate gross-pay note; no real worker is pictured. **9–16 model:** Build three labelled layers on the [wage mat](print/wage-layers.pdf): regular `7×$26`, additional `2×(1.5×$26)`, once-only `$15`. Explain why a rate multiplier applies to its hour band, not all pay. **16–27 independent route:** Learners choose a ledger, layered tactile cards or an editorial voice script and give a corrected caption. **27–32 peer/source check:** Require `$275 gross model total`, exact layer values, and a statement that neither take-home pay nor display authorship is known. **32–35 exit:** What part of the sentence can remain true, and what must change?

## Day 22 · Once means once

**0–4 launch:** Have the class predict the effect of adding `$10` once versus three times; do not show the total yet. **4–9 source:** Read the Gym Index staff card and desk note, making the picture's three boxes distinct from evidence that the allowance repeats. **9–16 model:** Regular `4×$30=$120`; extra rate `1.25×$30=$37.50/hour`. Put an allowance card **outside** the three-hour row. **16–27 independent route:** A/B/C computes additional pay and total, then rewrites the card so an adult applicant can see the once-only condition. **27–32 audit:** Compare the incorrect `$262.50` obtained by repeating `$10` for three hours with the correct `$242.50`. **32–35 exit:** Name which unit `$10` belongs to: **per shift**.

## Day 23 · One dollar gap, two percentage bases

**0–4 launch:** Read *25% margin* and ask what denominator it implies to a buyer. **4–9 source:** Label the cycling clue-badge publisher's claim and the separate `$56/$70` note; do not endorse an actual cycle route. **9–16 model:** On the [base comparison mat](print/base-comparison.pdf), calculate `$14` difference, `$14÷$56=25%` mark-up and `$14÷$70=20%` gross price margin. **16–27 independent route:** Learners annotate a catalogue, use cost/sale bars or dictate a source-bound correction. **27–32 audit:** A peer circles the denominator under each percentage and strikes *quarter of each $70 sale*. **32–35 exit:** Give a two-line correction that avoids claiming net profit or an actual beneficiary allocation.

## Day 24 · The return percentage changes base

**0–4 launch:** Show the team's two imagined cropped price cards with *25% up, 25% down*. **4–9 source:** Reveal `$96` and `$120`, and ask what the crop does not show about product quality or access. **9–16 model:** Mark `$24` rise as `24/96=25%`; to return, `$24` decrease is `24/120=20%`. Put both bases on the [change ladder](print/change-ladder.pdf). **16–27 independent route:** Learners produce a two-step receipt, tactile ladder or private spoken/AAC explanation; the optional [offline change-base lab](interactive/change-base-lab.html) follows a prediction and has a [paper route](interactive/TEXT-ROUTE.md). **27–32 audit:** Pair checks whether a second 25% cut would reach `$90`, not `$96`. **32–35 exit:** Replace the cancellation claim with an exact conditional return statement.

## Day 25 · A crop cannot allocate every dollar

**0–4 launch:** Read the maker-fair summary and ask whether a close-cropped hand image proves how all `$320` was distributed. **4–9 source:** Distinguish gross receipts from three stated costs; no real fundraiser or maker is shown. **9–16 model:** Verify `40×$8=$320`, then sort `$125`, `$45`, `$100` into cost categories; subtract to `$50` known remainder **before other unknowns**. **16–27 independent route:** A/B/C prepares a ledger-backed supporter line with a stated limit; do not invent where the remainder went. **27–32 audit:** Another learner points to the exact *every dollar* overclaim and checks the sum `$270`. **32–35 exit:** Collect “`$50 remains after three stated costs, before other costs`” plus one unanswered allocation question. Use separate [fresh Check A](STUDENT-CHECKS.md) in a later approved slot if it is new to that learner.

## Day 26 · The photograph shows a label, not a reverse rule

**0–4 launch:** Read the mobile science-display caption with only the described `$48` crop; ask what earlier value a viewer cannot see. **4–9 source:** Reveal the `$60` starting price and 20% decrease; the picture is an invented description, not a scientific record. **9–16 model:** `$60×0.20=$12`, so `$48`; returning needs `$12÷$48=25%` increase. **16–27 independent route:** Learners use a [change ladder](print/change-ladder.pdf), proportional strips or a private explanatory script. **27–32 audit:** Test the wrong repeated `20% of $48 = $9.60`, giving `$57.60`, and explain why the crop makes the first base easy to miss. **32–35 exit:** Give a claim naming both starting amounts and percentages.

## Day 27 · Currency symbols are units

**0–4 launch:** Put `USD $84` beside `AUD $84` in matching type and ask why visual symmetry is not numerical equivalence. **4–9 source:** State the animation club's rate is **invented**, not a current exchange quote; fees/spread absent by assumption. **9–16 model:** On the [direction mat](print/currency-direction.pdf), `AUD 240 × 0.70 = USD 168`; reverse `USD 84 ÷ 0.70 = AUD 120`. Check by multiplying AUD120 by0.70. **16–27 independent route:** Learners annotate arrows, move labelled currency tokens or record a private brochure correction. **27–32 audit:** Require both currency symbols beside every result and an unknown-real-rate warning. **32–35 exit:** Give one correct conversion and reject “swap the sign, keep the number.”

## Day 28 · One stipulated year is not forever

**0–4 launch:** Read Kite Ledger's *promise* and *forever* before showing its small-print model. **4–9 source:** Distinguish a fictional one-year dividend from future payments; use the linked ASIC boundary without discussing personal investments. **9–16 model:** `$0.90/share ×40 shares=$36` in the stipulated year; `$0.90÷$30×100=3%` model dividend yield. Use the [share measures mat](print/share-measures.pdf). **16–27 independent route:** A/B/C makes a one-year numerical correction and names what future information is absent. **27–32 audit:** A peer distinguishes `$0.90` **per share** from `$36` **for 40 shares**, then removes guarantee language. **32–35 exit:** State which part is computed and which part cannot be inferred.

## Day 29 · A shorter bar cannot rank a company

**0–4 launch:** Display the imaginary `$36` versus `$48` bars and ask what the chart includes and omits. **4–9 source:** Reveal `$3` and `$4` annual earnings per share from the separate note; all company data are invented. **9–16 model:** `36÷3=12` and `48÷4=12`; P/E is a **ratio**, not a percent or a prediction. **16–27 independent route:** A/B/C calculates both, then rewrites the chart caption without investment ranking. **27–32 audit:** A classmate points to an omitted factor such as future earnings or risk and refuses *better-value* as a proven conclusion. **32–35 exit:** Say “same model P/E 12” and one thing it cannot decide.

## Day 30 · Ten is not ten percent

**0–4 launch:** Show Soundwheel's ten-segment ring and ask why a picture might invite a unit shortcut. **4–9 source:** Label the editor's ratio/percent conflation and three different desk-note quantities. **9–16 model:** `P/E=$20÷$2=10` as a ratio; `yield=$0.60÷$20×100=3%` for one stipulated year. Put labels on [share measures](print/share-measures.pdf) before numbers. **16–27 independent route:** Learners create a two-panel correction using equations, tactile cards or a private audio/AAC script. **27–32 audit:** Partner checks that P/E is not a cash dividend, and future payments remain unknown. **32–35 exit:** Collect ratio, yield, exact faulty word/visual choice and a source-bound correction. Give separate [fresh Check B](STUDENT-CHECKS.md) in an approved slot if its case is new to the learner.

**Evidence log:** `day | source maker/audience and exact choice | model with unit/base | bounded revision | route and source access | content help | next move`. Store only in a school-approved system; shared examples contain no real child data. [QCAA mapping](CURRICULUM-CROSSWALK.md) is partial; unit sequence and school instruments remain local decisions.
