# Year 11 Visual Art · Queensland opening fortnight

Ten original, 25-minute studio starts for **Unit 1: Art as lens** under the current [QCAA Visual Art General senior syllabus 2025 v1.3](https://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/downloads/senior-qce/syllabuses/snr_visual_art_25_syll.pdf), January 2026. This subject's Unit 1 has **no “Topic 1.”** Its subject matter is organised through the areas **Developing, Researching, Reflecting, Resolving and Key terminology** (printed pp 23–26). These areas are interrelated; our opening sequence uses a small, original paper form to explore viewpoint, representation, material decisions, source-aware looking and a first experimental folio note. Ten sessions = **250 minutes**, only an opening portion of a notional 55-hour unit. This is not a whole-unit course, a finished folio, or an official QCAA instrument.

Use [ten teacher scripts](LESSONS.md) with [original practice stimuli A–F](STIMULUS-CARDS.md), the [learner desk](LEARNER.md), [three equivalent routes per day](DAILY-CHOICES.md), [two worked swaps per day](DAILY-EXTRAS.md), [twenty varied prompts](EXAMPLE-BANK.md), and [spoken/quiet prompts](SPOKEN-PROMPTS.md). The two [fresh public checks](STUDENT-CHECKS.md) have new original G/H drawing sheets and a [separate worked feedback key](teacher/ANSWER-AND-NEXT.md). Their first responses are formative, publicly answerable, and not secure school assessment. Seven minutes is an initial work window; extend it locally when needed.

Six [original A4 looking/making aids](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md) and two fresh check stimulus sheets are SVG and searchable PDF with exact text and tactile descriptions. A blank sheet, pencil, folded scrap paper and torn paper strips are enough for the regular lessons; use clean paper and ordinary school-safe materials. No solvents, aerosol paint, blades, photography of people, personal disclosure or recreation of another artist's work is required. Its image and the artist's work are not copied into this pack or used as a style prompt.

Accessible routes preserve the same art reasoning target while changing the material or response channel; they are offered to everyone and do not rely on a fixed “learning style.” These materials have **not** been tested in a classroom, translated or reviewed by QCAA or First Nations cultural authorities. Local teachers still choose and assess the full course.
