# Your choice menu · Year 5 · Days 11–20

Choose the optional subject block your teacher offers. Each takes **12 minutes** and can be done in more than one way. Your teacher will give the kit and explain safety. You may show an idea by **making/trying**, **arranging or drawing**, or **speaking/dictating**. Some learning needs a real action: a drawing of a dance or code is a plan; doing the movement or running the program gives different evidence. You may choose a private audience. No real address, password, photo of a person, or personal story is needed. Use the [print mats](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md) in text if that works better.

## Day 11
- **Science:** Compare whole and crumbled chalk in closed containers. What changed in place?
- **HASS:** Who could decide about a fictional school courtyard, and what would you ask them?
- **HPE:** Try two comfortable movements. What did *you* notice about effort?
- **Technologies:** Sketch two ways to hold a dry paper cup. Which material property matters?
- **Dance:** Make a four-count straight pathway and a curved one. What might each suggest?

## Day 12
- **Science:** In a tray model, see how water moves grains. Which one thing did you change?
- **HASS:** Compare a dated meeting note with an unsigned poster. Who made them, and why?
- **HPE:** Change one rule in a no-elimination game, then test whether it helps more people join.
- **Technologies:** Make and test a paper-cup handle low over a tray. What slipped or held?
- **Dance:** Change the timing of yesterday’s phrase; perform for a willing partner.

## Day 13
- **Science:** Watch sand settle in a closed jar. What did you see at two times?
- **HASS:** Choose how to use limited containers and volunteer time for a fictional pantry.
- **HPE:** Try a safe route through three markers. What changed when spacing changed?
- **Technologies:** Compare two invented lunchbox closures by access, durability and resources.
- **Drama:** Invent two characters who need the same supply box. Where does their scene turn?

## Day 14
- **Science:** Match imagined creature features to habitat conditions. Which claim needs real evidence?
- **HASS:** Test a tiny school-library poll or audit the sample tally 7, 5, 4. What makes it fair?
- **HPE:** Ask, wait and respect an answer in a pretend borrowing/helping scenario.
- **Technologies:** Plan a two-person, no-sharp-tool mini shade build. What would you test?
- **Drama:** Rehearse and perform a scene about a confusing sign, then change one cue.

## Day 15
- **Science, HASS, HPE and Technologies:** Do the fresh [Check A](ASSESSMENT.md) for your chosen block. Your teacher holds the answers.
- **Media Arts:** Produce two original frames about returning shared equipment. Choose a crop and caption, and show a willing viewer. Then do the Arts part of Check A.

## Day 16
- **Science:** Arrange paper dots as models of solid, liquid and gas. What can dots *not* show?
- **HASS:** On an invented park map, mark information a planner would need before severe weather.
- **HPE:** Practise a safe response to a fictional message asking for an address.
- **Digital Technologies:** Trace a branching library-sorter rule and repeat it for two books.
- **Media Arts:** Present your two-frame work with a safe sound or as a captioned silent version. How did a changed sound or caption affect its reading?

## Day 17
- **Science:** Aim reflected torch light at a paper target with a mirror, never at eyes. Draw the path.
- **HASS:** Which of two claims can an invented map actually support? What is missing?
- **HPE:** Compare the makers and purposes of two invented health messages.
- **Digital Technologies:** Arrange two 0/1 tiles. How many different patterns can you make?
- **Music:** Compose and **sound** a four-beat pattern with one rest. Mark what you heard.

## Day 18
- **Science:** Look at a pencil through water. Did the pencil change or did its *appearance* change?
- **HASS:** Choose safe, supervised steps for a fictional school crossing concern.
- **HPE:** Negotiate rotating roles in a small group task; try the agreed rotation.
- **Digital Technologies:** Sketch a library search screen, have someone point to “search” and “back,” and revise a label.
- **Music:** Perform the same short pattern two ways. What changed audibly?

## Day 19
- **Science:** Recommend what evidence a fictional community garden needs before fixing a path.
- **HASS:** Choose a fictional garden plan using access, benefit and cost. Which fact is missing?
- **HPE:** Try a comfortable one-minute change of posture or movement; name what you noticed.
- **Digital Technologies:** Build, run and change a visual counting program in an approved workspace. If there is no device, label a traced plan **planned only**.
- **Visual Arts:** Make a small original artwork using two marks or textures and purposeful space.

## Day 20
- **Science, HASS, HPE and Technologies:** Do the fresh [Check B](ASSESSMENT.md) for your chosen block.
- **Visual Arts:** Adjust, title (or leave untitled) and present your artwork to a willing viewer. Then do the Arts part of Check B.

## Optional home invitations

Use what is already at home or outside from a safe public place: notice a reflection, a useful handle, a fair game rule, a texture, or a shared-space decision. Ask an adult before using materials or a device. You may explain, draw or demonstrate; no purchase, upload or family data is required. Home work is an invitation, never evidence that everyone has the same resources.
