# Year 6 English · clean daily reading and writing page

All texts in this fortnight are **made up for learning**. Use the [original reading packet](SOURCE-TEXTS.md) for Days 11–14 and 16–19. The [poster](print/repair-poster.svg) has the same words and order in the [complete text description](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md); you do not need to see colour, print a page or use a device. Ask for a read-aloud, screen reader, large text, sign/AAC, a quiet partner, a typed reply or a person to write your exact words. You can also read independently. Say which source you used before a claim. Nobody needs to tell us about family money, belongings, disability, home, identity or a real club.

When the teacher asks for practice, choose **one A/B/C [daily route](DAILY-CHOICES.md)**. The other routes can wait. The Day 15 and Day 20 routes are marked **after the check**. On those days your teacher provides a **new** [learner check](STUDENT-CHECKS.md). Do not open its new sources early. A blank [source-comparison sheet](print/source-comparison.pdf) and [argument planner](print/argument-planner.pdf), or their text/tactile versions, can help you organise ideas without giving answers.

## Day 11 · Two texts, one club

Read Sources A and B. Who made each, who might read it and what job does each text do? Find one sentence or number that supports your view. Ask whether two texts from the same club are two independent checks.

## Day 12 · Big print, small print

Read Source A with its layout description and compare B. What does the poster make easy to notice first? What information is still present but less noticeable? Choose a [route](DAILY-CHOICES.md) that explains an effect on a reader.

## Day 13 · Records, suggestions and unknowns

Read B, C and D. Sort one sentence each into **the source records it**, **someone suggests it**, or **the sources do not show it**. Ask a question that would help a decision maker, without making up an answer.

## Day 14 · Careful summary

Summarise two of A–D in your own words and give each idea its source. If a sentence says “everyone” or “always,” check whether any source could support that breadth. Invite one respectful question.

## Day 15 · Fresh check

Your teacher gives you a new fictional Borrow Box poster and tally in the [check sheet](STUDENT-CHECKS.md). Read or listen, then respond without a hint about the answer. You may use a large or tactile version of the same words and layout. The [Day 15 practice routes](DAILY-CHOICES.md) are for **later**.

## Day 16 · A decision with conditions

Imagine a room manager deciding whether to **try one more small session**. Use B/C/D to plan a recommendation, two source details and one unknown. Say “if” when the decision depends on something the packet has not checked.

## Day 17 · Give each part a job

Arrange your argument so a reader can locate the recommendation, evidence, limit or counterpoint, and next step. You may use paragraphs, labelled cards or a spoken outline. Tell a partner why you chose that order.

## Day 18 · Choose the honest verb

Compare **records**, **suggests** and **proves** before using one. Try an opening `Although ... , ...` sentence, then check the comma. A `that ...` clause can identify which items you mean without inventing new facts.

## Day 19 · Test the pitch

Give a short argument to a chosen private listener, or prepare it as a written/AAC exchange. Name the source of one number, one thing unknown and one condition. Let a fair question help you revise a sentence. A plan is useful, but say whether you actually presented it.

## Day 20 · New-source argument

Your teacher gives you a new fictional pop-up reading cart packet in the [check sheet](STUDENT-CHECKS.md). Make a bounded recommendation with source details, a limit and a useful next step. The [Day 20 practice routes](DAILY-CHOICES.md) are for **after** the check.

**Before handing anything in:** Can the reader find my source? Did I use the source's actual words/numbers? Is my claim no wider than the evidence? If I do not know something, have I said so?
