# Mathematics, Term 1 Weeks 1–2 — integers and coordinates

**Version:** v0.1, 29 September 2026. **Status:** educator, accessibility and local-syllabus review pending. [Ten daily 25-minute lessons](lessons.md), [low-ink/text aids](aids.md), original [A4 SVG number line](integer-number-line.svg) ([PNG](integer-number-line.png)) and [A4 SVG coordinate grid](integer-coordinate-grid.svg) ([PNG](integer-coordinate-grid.png)), and a [keyed formative check](assessment.md). Week 1 uses integers on a number line; Week 2 places ordered pairs in all four Cartesian quadrants and describes movements. This is a bounded Year 6 opening, not all number/space content.

**Prepare:** Print a -10 to +10 line and -5 to +5 grid, or provide labelled tactile axes/digital accessible coordinate plane. Use the mathematical convention **(x, y): x first across, y second up/down**, positive right/up, negative left/down. The axes intersect at (0,0); points on an axis are **not in a quadrant**. A child may point, type, dictate, sign, use AAC, place a tactile marker or direct an adult. Record mathematical prompts separately from motor/visual access. Check learner familiarity with whole numbers, equal line intervals, left/right conventions and ordered pairs; do not infer an ability from fast chart reading.

**National links:** AC9M6N01 includes recognising integer situations and representing integers on a number line and as coordinates on a Cartesian plane; AC9M6SP02 includes points in all four quadrants and coordinate changes when moved. The first fortnight offers **partial practice**. Exact Year 6 content records verified against the [official ACARA v9 download](https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/downloads), retrieved 29 September 2026, workbook SHA-256 `db446882d2c00cf7c085a03e250e2442fda6c44011fc114680c46c1dc7a822c3`.
