# Original low-ink integer and coordinate aids

This plain-text page is an alternative; enlarge, emboss or use accessible digital coordinates. In every context below, quantities are **fictional** and the reference zero is stated. No climate, financial or geographic outcome is asserted.

## Number line, equal one-unit steps

This text rendering is a verbal guide; for plotting, use the fixed-scale print line above or redraw on a ruler at **equal spacing**. Negative numbers increase as you move right: -2 is greater than -5. `0` is neither positive nor negative. “Four units below zero” is -4; the sign depends on a stated reference, not whether the situation is desirable.

An ordered pair always reads **(x, y)**. A point like (0,3) is on the y-axis; (-2,0) is on the x-axis. Each axis tick is one equal unit. Give quadrant names only after learners can locate the signs.
