# Setup and access

Use paper, pencil, fraction strips of the **same whole length**, a 3-by-4 or 5-by-4 blank grid, large digit/factor cards and the three original A4 aids: [operation/check mat](print/operation-check.pdf), [prime-factor tree](print/prime-factor-tree.pdf) and [square/root link](print/square-root-link.pdf). [Full text and tactile routes](print/TEXT-ALTERNATIVES.md) make every label and spatial relation available without sight or print. No colour code, real spending, device, account, food handling or personal-data collection is required.

For a fraction area, partition one rectangle in both directions, count overlap cells and keep the unit whole fixed. For decimal division, a spoken or tactile grouping sequence can replace a drawn line. For prime factors, large separate cards let the learner direct the splits; a complete prime-leaf list is equivalent to a drawn tree. For square roots, 12 equal large counters per side, a 12-by-12 tactile grid or a multiplication statement can carry the same reason. Avoid small loose counters when unsuitable for the group.

Keep the [staff answers](teacher/ANSWER-AND-NEXT.md) private. Seal Day15's 2/3+1/4, 7.2÷0.3 and 15%-of-80 values, and Day20's 108,196,75 values until each check. A read-aloud, magnified aid, screen reader, scribe or AAC supports access; giving a denominator, quotient, prime leaf or root is a **content hint** that must be recorded. Record mathematics separately from handwriting and oral delivery.
