# Year 8 integrated inquiry · Term 1 Weeks 3–4

**Open Page Lab** is ten original 35-minute Days 11–20 lessons about a fictional paper exhibition proposal. Learners test how far a source can support a design claim, expand and solve the relevant model rules, safely investigate a paper-support assumption, compare fictional supplier quotes, make original visual captions and test an offline model tool's reader experience. It continues the opening fortnight's repair-plan and biased-poll questions about price, selection and claim reach, then connects the new English paper-display and demo texts with Year 8 algebra. All figures and people are invented. The pack authorises **no** real installation, event, purchase or student survey.

The common rhythm is 3 + 5 + 7 + 12 + 5 + 3 minutes. There are 30 meaningful daily learner routes, two alternative five-minute extras plus one no-purchase home idea per day, and two fresh transfer checks with separate teacher criteria. The three original one-page A4 SVG/PDF aids have complete linear and tactile equivalents. The optional [offline model-audit tool](interactive/model-audit.html) provides actual keyboard-testable interface material; its [paper route](interactive/TEXT-ROUTE.md) remains available without a screen. The checks and worked key are publicly accessible in this library. They are formative prompts, not secure tests: collect first responses before feedback and change the case locally if prior access matters.

## Use the evidence honestly

Read-aloud supports listening comprehension, **not independent print decoding**. Record what the learner did and any prompt, calculator, AAC, scribe or physical-test support. A paper wireframe does not show browser use; an invented fallback data table does not show the learner conducted an experiment; an AAC or written answer does not automatically show vocal control. The brief paper-support investigation tests a small paper object under classroom conditions. Teacher local safety review is required, and no result certifies a real structure. No household finances, family schedules, personal access needs, recordings or identifiable pupil work are sought.

The [27-code row-level crosswalk](CURRICULUM-CROSSWALK.md) identifies **partial or conditional opportunities** from Year 8 English, Mathematics, Science and HASS, and the Years 7 and 8 bands of Technologies and Visual Arts. It is not comprehensive subject allocation, demonstrated learning, a Year 8 achievement-standard decision or state/territory syllabus approval. First Nations languages, knowledge, motifs and real local place claims are deliberately absent pending community authority and local source selection. A school must review its jurisdiction's implementation, include broader authored literature and local curriculum requirements, and moderate actual student evidence before making coverage claims. No translations have been reviewed or published.

## Audit and reuse

The pinned official workbook is dated 29 September 2026; see [ledger](SOURCES-AND-RIGHTS.md) for attribution, licence, source hash and update boundary. To regenerate and check the crosswalk and receipt, run `python3 verify_pack.py --write-crosswalk --write-manifest`, then `python3 verify_pack.py` and `sha256sum -c MANIFEST.sha256` in this folder. The verifier checks lesson times, route counts, held-out phrase separation, actual source rows/wording, arithmetic, A4 assets, deterministic rendering, internal anchors and hashes. This is internal artifact verification, not a human classroom trial or assistive-technology certification.
