# English, Term 1 Weeks 1–2 — perspective, evidence and fair response

**Prepare:** Students inspect two invented public-place proposals, a mock post, a neutral planning note and attributed fictional voices. No post represents a real council, platform or person; no class is asked to vote on an actual policy. Establish discussion norm: analyse **the words and evidence**, not classmates' identity. Show that a sweeping claim about young people is unsupported without asking any teenager to defend a category. Offer adjustable text, screen reader/teacher read-aloud, tactile/description route for visual features, sign/AAC discussion, keyboard or adult scribe. A read-aloud can provide access to reasoning; record independent reading evidence separately. Do not grade speed, handwriting or visual design when the construct is perspective and argument.
