# Year 9 · coordinate and model cards

**Learner copy.** All coordinates, places, hours and prices are invented classroom models. A point on a diagram is not a real safe route; a price model is not a quote. Show a diagram, calculation or clear explanation. You can use large print, an accessible digital graph, tactile grid, typing, speech, sign, AAC or a learner-directed scribe. Record the units and what the model leaves out.

Use the [blank coordinate grid](coordinate-grid.svg) ([PNG](coordinate-grid.png)) or an equal-scale graph you can access. Its axes run from **−8 to +8** in unit steps. The [blank linear plot](line-comparison.svg) ([PNG](line-comparison.png)) has whole booked hours **0–8** horizontally and invented model dollars **$0–$72** vertically in four-dollar steps; every eight dollars is labelled. Both print sheets contain axes only; you make the points and lines.

| Card | Invented domain | Points or rule | Find or explain |
| ---: | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Digital poster pixels | A(−4,1), B(2,4) | Gradient |
| 2 | Stage sight line | A(1,4), B(5,0) | Gradient |
| 3 | Game wall | A(2,−3), B(2,5) | Gradient or why it is undefined |
| 4 | Garden plan edge | A(−4,−2), B(4,−2) | Gradient |
| 5 | Library floor plan | A(−6,2), B(4,8) | Midpoint |
| 6 | Light-rig drawing | A(−3,−4), B(5,2) | Midpoint |
| 7 | Model robot | A(0,0), B(6,8) | Straight-line distance in grid units |
| 8 | Sports diagram | A(−2,1), B(1,5) | Straight-line distance in grid units |
| 9 | Route sketch | A(1,−2), B(7,6) | Straight-line distance in grid units |
| 10 | Mural sketch | A(−5,3), B(−1,−3) | Gradient and midpoint |
| 11 | Theatre blocking | A(−6,−4), B(2,2) | Gradient and straight-line distance |
| 12 | Community garden map | A(−4,−6), B(4,0) | Midpoint and straight-line distance |

**Invented model studio:** Plan C passes through (0,12) and (4,36). Plan D passes through (0,24) and (4,40). Each point is (whole booked hours, model dollars). Find both rules; plot them; determine when the prices match; compare three and eight hours. State why the model alone cannot establish the best real purchase.

**Record:** Context ___; points/rule ___; units ___; horizontal change ___; vertical change ___; gradient or reason undefined ___; midpoint ___; straight-line distance ___; model domain ___; one missing real-world condition ___.
