# Original quiet pulse · complete silent/tactile alternative

The optional [3.2-second original WAV](folded-pulse.wav) has **eight equal 0.4-second counts** at 16 kHz mono. A quiet synthetic tap begins at counts **1, 3, 4, 6 and 8**; counts **2, 5 and 7** are full rests. There is no speech, environmental recording, copyrighted music or claimed cultural style. The pulse is generated by [our local script](../make_audio.py), not an AWS or third-party voice. Start at a comfortable low volume, allow silence by default and do not require headphones or playback.

To make a tactile version, place eight numbered cards in a row; a raised dot on 1/3/4/6/8 means tap and a large `REST` word card on 2/5/7 means intentional silence. For Day18, place a **second** row below it; the new layer begins at box 5 and may be composed silently. A learner may read, arrange, sign, AAC, conduct or write the score without hearing or producing audio. Score notation is evidence of a composition choice; a performed sound is only recorded if it happened.
