Use after capturing the first independent response. This is formative feedback guidance, not a numerical grade, diagnostic label, complete ACARA achievement judgment or proof of a real trial. Route, neutral rereads, prompts and source type belong with the evidence. An adult's neutral description is ADULT REPORT, not the child's direct sense. There is no fixed real-object or movement answer: any actual result depends on verified local dimensions, surface, orientation and gentle action, and is credited only if it occurred safely and was recorded with local date/source.
Day 55 · Case U
- Strong bounded model response: same drawn oval (5 by 9 cm), same drawn 7 cm gap, changed orientation/span across. View A is drawn within lines; View B crosses a line. A child may predict an approved broad actual object would behave differently, but must say the paper shows no actual movement and mark NOT TESTED.
- Science question/next check: “With one verified broad object and the same safe marked passage, does turning it change whether it can be moved flat between the lines without touching?” Record local measured widths, material or UNKNOWN, date, same start/surface/gentle action, and before prediction; stop rather than force a non-fitting position.
- Do not award: “It passed/stopped in our classroom” from U alone; “the oval changed size”; actual AC9SFI02 merely because the child touched paper; comparison with prediction when none was recorded before any action.
- Next move: if source boundary weak, contrast a drawn arrow with an attributed actual dated record; if orientation confused, rotate one large secured outline and narrate same object/new direction; if both are clear, invite an approved actual test or a different controlled question.
Day 60 · Case V
- Strong bounded model response: paper passage 11 cm; A outline 9 cm across and drawn within; B 13 cm across and drawn across one line. The author labels material the same in the story, but local real material is unverified. Width differs; both point to the same drawn passage. The model offers a prediction, not an observed object result.
- Science question/next check: verify broad safe actual objects/material and widths, one measured gap, fixed surface/start/orientation/gentle action, source/date, prior prediction, separate actual outcomes and any unexpected touches. If objects differ in more than width, describe the difference rather than claim width alone caused the result.
- Do not award: universal claims that all 9 cm objects pass or all 13 cm objects stop; material identity from drawn colour/text alone; an actual prediction-versus-result comparison without genuine earlier prediction and observed result; actual investigation credit from paper-only response.
- Next move: if child merges story and reality, practise source labels; if object/gap relation is hard, use broad fixed width strips; if strong, make a cautiously bounded comparison of two real approved dated trials.
Interpretation: credit question/prediction language from models as language about possible investigations; credit AC9SFU02/AC9SFI02 actual movement only with a safe dated observation and conditions. Credit AC9SFI04 only when an authentic before prediction and later observation exist. A neutral ADULT REPORT can support participation and reported information but is not the child's direct sensory observation. If real sources are absent, write REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE and plan the next safe chance; never infer child inability, progress or classroom impact from one check.
