Offer any route on any day, combine them, or pause. These are access choices, not labels for a child or fixed learning styles. Adult reads all source labels literally; signs/AAC vocabulary can be prepared locally with the learner's usual system. Broad secured pieces only, no loose small parts. A paper model is always named FICTIONAL MODEL. An adult-described real event is ADULT REPORT, not the child's direct sense. Actual action requires the adult safety gate. For check days, use these practice routes after the first independent response.
Day 121 · Three pictured positions
- A · see/mark: Place broad numbered 1–2–3 frames beside F; draw a small square in left, centre, right and circle the blank space between frames.
- B · hear/say: Hear F read without path words; say or dictate START, MIDDLE, FINISH and finish “The pictures do not show whether it paused.”
- C · choose/direct: Select fixed START/MIDDLE/FINISH AAC or tactile labels in order; direct an adult to leave the connecting strip empty, then select UNKNOWN PATH.
Day 122 · Two possible routes
- A · see/trace: Trace G's solid horizontal line with a pencil, then its dashed upper bends; point to all three stations on both.
- B · hear/say: Hear the solid route, then the dashed route described; answer “Both fit the same stills; neither was observed.”
- C · choose/direct: Choose two secured raised line cards, straight and bent, under the same three fixed station tabs; signal MODEL twice.
Day 123 · Question and prediction first
- A · see/write: Mark the proposed START and MIDDLE positions on the plan and finish “Before a real try, I think the pad might …”.
- B · hear/say: Ask “Will there be a pause at MIDDLE?” or a child-chosen visible path question; dictate a possible prediction before results.
- C · choose/direct: Use broad fixed QUESTION / PREDICTION / NO PREDICTION options; choose one observable path cue and direct the adult to timestamp/order it.
Day 124 · Source of a whole path
- A · see/mark: If a real approved event occurs and is directly seen, draw only the path actually seen on the blank record; mark an obscured portion PATH NOT SEEN. Otherwise label the paper MODEL.
- B · hear/say: Describe own genuine direct access if it occurred, or repeat a neutral attributed ADULT REPORT with the adult named; if paper-only, say REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE.
- C · choose/direct: Select actual DIRECT / ADULT REPORT / MODEL source card, then START / TURN / STOP / HIDDEN / NOT RUN as appropriate; an adult writes exact selected order.
Day 125 · Practise source limits after the check
- A · see/mark: Use a fresh blank three-box strip; put an invented circle at three stations and leave the joining route blank.
- B · hear/say: Hear “circle at left, centre, right”; say what those words reveal and what they leave unknown.
- C · choose/direct: Place fixed circle symbols in three frames; choose either PATH KNOWN or PATH UNKNOWN and state why.
Day 126 · Exact model log
- A · see/mark: Underline H's STOPPED THERE and turn wording; mark the separate line-contact statement NOT SEEN.
- B · hear/say: Hear H's two sentences in order; retell one explicitly stated event and one hidden detail while naming MODEL.
- C · choose/direct: Choose fixed MODEL / STOP / TURN / LINE CONTACT UNKNOWN strips; direct an adult to put last strip under UNKNOWN.
Day 127 · Prediction comparison
- A · see/mark: Put genuine earlier prediction left and genuine observed result right if both exist; draw SAME / DIFFERENT / UNCLEAR. Otherwise write CANNOT COMPARE.
- B · hear/say: Dictate “My earlier prediction was …; I directly saw …” only when both are true; else explain the missing source/order.
- C · choose/direct: Use broad PRIOR / RESULT / MISSING tabs and SAME / DIFFERENT / UNCLEAR / CANNOT COMPARE choices; adult records source and timing.
Day 128 · Preserve raw attempts
- A · see/mark: Draw TRY 1 and TRY 2 separately only where genuine results exist; put INTERRUPTED or NOT RUN on unused rows.
- B · hear/say: Hear the actual two raw adult notes or G's two possible fictional traces; tell the adult which are events, which are drawings and whether a cause is known.
- C · choose/direct: Select two broad fixed row statuses VALID / INTERRUPTED / NOT RUN; choose ACTION CHANGED if an adult chose a new hand route.
Day 129 · Bounded share
- A · see/mark: Fill the source, one supported fact and one unknown in the claim/listener mat; show privately.
- B · hear/say: Tell a chosen adult “This source is …; it shows …; it does not show …”; ask one safe next question.
- C · choose/direct: Sequence fixed SOURCE / EVIDENCE / UNKNOWN / NEXT QUESTION AAC or tactile strips; direct the adult to voice exact selections, then record whether anyone actually responded.
Day 130 · Practise a second source after the check
- A · see/mark: On a new empty four-station diagram, show two known points and leave a covered interval blank rather than drawing a guessed path.
- B · hear/say: Hear “start and end were seen; the middle was hidden”; state only those positions and ask for a clear approved view.
- C · choose/direct: Put a broad opaque HIDDEN card between fixed START and FINISH cards; choose CAUSE UNKNOWN and an adult-approved next source.
Record exact first words, signs, selected symbols, prompts and source type in the school's private system. Different communication modes can show the same reasoning; none is evidence of an actual direct sensory investigation unless the source/action/access requirements were genuinely met.
