“Pip is our pretend paper puppet. Pip wants a little window. Should the window show the big circle, or hide it? You can choose. Here's the frame. Here's the panel. What could we find out about them? You can point, tell, sign, use your device, or ask me to move something. You don't have to touch. Let's choose one good question.”
Track 2 · A fictional window notebook
“This is an invented record, not a real experiment. Through one white paper sheet, the helper says, I see a pale circle shape. Its edge looks fuzzy. Through the card, the helper says, I cannot see the circle. Through the clear plastic sheet, the helper says, I can see the circle and its edge. Through two white paper sheets, the helper says, I cannot make out the circle. These are the views in this pretend notebook. Another real setup could give a different result.”
Track 3 · Before, after and a useful note
“First, say what you think might happen. I will keep your words before we check. Then, say what you actually notice, or tell me it is unclear. Your idea can change. Let's leave the next helper a useful note. Which sample did you use? Where did the information come from? What did it show in this setup? What do we still need to find out? A little question can be a good next step.”
