You can draw, tell, point, sign, use AAC, dictate to a scribe or direct an adult. A/B/C are not fixed learning styles; each route reaches the same Design goal. A paper drawing shows an idea, not a material result. If a school-approved action does not happen, say NOT TRIED. A child-directed adult action is recorded as adult handling. No one has to touch, hear, make a sound or handle a vessel. Use the full linear and tactile descriptions without printing.
Day 71 · A cue for a person
Shared target: Name a designed feature, user and purpose for an optional gentle cue.
- A · Draw: Add a broad cue place to the material candidates; show where the user would find it.
- B · Tell/AAC: Finish “A person could design ___ so a willing partner can ___.” Include a no-sound option.
- C · Direct: Ask an adult to point to two large possible cue places; direct which could help the pretend user and why.
Home: Tell a pretend toy how you would show “your turn” without needing to tap, buy or build anything.
Day 72 · Ask about materials
Shared target: Compare two possible broad materials by the user's need and what is still unknown.
- A · Draw: Mark one question beside BROAD CARD and another beside CLEAN SOFT CLOTH on the candidate page.
- B · Tell/AAC: Name one possible reason to consider each material, then one question a real user or adult would answer.
- C · Inspect/direct: If approved, look at or direct an adult to describe clean full-size candidates; say what came from inspection and what remains a guess.
Home: Ask a puppet, “Would you like a visible cue, a gentle sound or no sound?” No real listener response is required.
Day 73 · Two pad plans
Shared target: Give two distinct pad ideas and choose one for a stated user.
- A · Draw: Use design record for two materials, shapes or cue locations; circle a provisional choice.
- B · Tell/AAC: Describe two ideas in your own words; an adult writes them exactly and asks which serves the user.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to trace two different broad pad boundaries in the air or on a large blank page; name the helpful feature.
Home: Tell a toy two possible cue-pad ideas. A drawing or talk is enough.
Day 74 · Plan a comfortable try
Shared target: Order safe actions, identify a physical handler and name a stop signal.
- A · Draw: Number the four safe steps; mark when to stop.
- B · Tell/AAC: Say the order, who would touch or tap if approved, and what you would ask a willing listener.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to read steps in your order; choose a silent plan if sound or touch is not comfortable.
Home: Tell a puppet a safe plan; do not carry out a home sound or material test.
Day 75 · Fresh first response
Shared target: Give two designs and a user-linked choice for a new cue task.
- A · Draw: Make two different large-pad plans on the new child page, then choose one.
- B · Tell/AAC: Give two ideas and one reason for a willing user; adult transcribes without adding an idea.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult where to point for two proposed cue places, then state your own choice and unknown.
Home: After your first response, invent a different pretend cue user and ask what they would want. No test is needed.
Day 76 · A dry new purpose
Shared target: Say how the dry landing purpose differs and what base position would count.
- A · Draw: On the dry vessel brief, draw a broad proposed boundary around a separate place for each empty vessel.
- B · Tell/AAC: Explain FULLY ON, EDGE OFF and NOT TRIED for a visible base; name one capacity fact these cannot tell.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to trace a proposed broad boundary and describe A/B positions without placing a real vessel.
Home: Ask a puppet how it would know an empty pretend container was wholly on a drawn pad. No vessel or water needed.
Day 77 · Approved try or plan
Shared target: Keep child pad action, adult vessel action and each actual base position separate.
- A · Draw: Fill design record from an approved real dry action, or mark A and B NOT TRIED.
- B · Tell/AAC: Say who put down the pad, who placed empty A and B, and what each visible base actually did—or that neither was tried.
- C · Place/direct: If approved and willing, position a broad pad or direct an adult; only an adult places each empty unbreakable vessel. An untouching plan is equally valid.
Home: Tell a toy what you would ask an adult to check next. Do not reproduce the station at home.
Day 78 · Change one thing
Shared target: Connect one dry-pad change to an actual result or named unknown.
- A · Draw: Change pad boundary, material or large label on design record; mark “seen,” “adult described” or “still unknown.”
- B · Tell/AAC: Finish “Because I saw/was told/don't yet know , I would try .”
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to describe one alternative broad pad position, then say what a later approved dry check would need to show.
Home: Suggest a change to a pretend landing place and one question about it. No real container needed.
Day 79 · Two purposes, two questions
Shared target: Ask different evidence questions for a cue user and a dry landing user.
- A · Draw: Put a cue question and a separate dry-base question on the two-purpose brief.
- B · Tell/AAC: Say what a willing listener would actually report and what an adult would actually see at the dry pad.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to point between purpose panels; identify any actual school-approved familiar designed item only if genuinely observed and logged in the local slot.
Home: Ask a toy why the same material might be chosen for one job and left undecided for another.
Day 80 · Fresh dry-pad response
Shared target: Design and conditionally evaluate a new dry-pad task with honest A/B result status.
- A · Draw: Show two distinct broad-pad ideas, choose one and leave any unobserved base position as NOT TRIED.
- B · Tell/AAC: Explain two ideas, safe adult vessel handling and exact actual or unknown A/B status; adult writes your words.
- C · Direct/plan: Direct an adult on pad placement. Only if locally approved may the adult place each empty vessel; otherwise keep a spoken plan.
Home: After first response, invent a different dry tabletop use and one question you would ask. No home trial.
