Fictional Paper Courtyard Archive · practice only
- Source A, labelled drawing: the LOW SHELF is left, BLUE MAT centre, and SHADE SQUARE above a SEAT at right. These are page-relative picture labels, not a real site plan or measured dimensions. A4 drawing.
- Source B, written notice: invented Bea, described only as a pretend caretaker, writes, “Return large picture cards to the LOW SHELF after use.” It is an invented instruction, not evidence anyone complied or that this is a real school rule. No date is supplied. A4 notice.
- Source C, attributed preference: invented Ari says, “I like the shade square for looking at cards.” This is Ari's invented view only.
- Source D, attributed preference: invented Ren says, “I like the blue mat for laying out cards.” This is Ren's invented view only. A4 view cards.
The terms drawing, notice, speaker, feature, source, question, view, proposal and unknown are taught with these exact cards. The drawing does not establish that shade changes temperature, that anyone used the seat, or that a place is safe or accessible. The notice does not establish a result. A preference is not a survey. No real species, plant, community member or First Nations knowledge is represented.
Prepare before any session
Print the source drawing, notice, views, feature/source sort, question/source trail and care-decision mat as needed. Use the full text and tactile-equivalent directions if visual print is unsuitable. Large hand-drawn boxes and read-aloud source text work without a printer. Avoid small loose pieces; point to or draw broad fields rather than cutting cards. Digital access, recording and cameras are not needed.
Use one teacher clipboard row per child: day, fictional source used, child response in own words or pointing reference, route/support supplied, and one next move. Keep it under school privacy rules; do not upload it to this public pack. Real school observations follow LOCAL-SOURCE-INSERT.md, and are optional. No home purchase or family interview is required.
On Days 25 and 30, use the independent student checks and corresponding A4 source cards, Check B. Keep the public teacher key out of learner handouts until first responses are collected. If prior access matters, replace the fictional check cases with locally authored equivalents; the public checks are not secure.
