Choose a route for access and interest, not a fixed learning style. Each route asks the same source-bounded Science question for the day. A child can switch between pointing, AAC, speech, signing, drawing, broad tactile cards, private explanation and directing an adult. Attribute adult descriptions; a model never becomes a direct view. When the local source is unavailable, a model-only route is preparatory and the actual-source target remains open. Follow source/safety instructions. Days 25/30 cards are after-check practice with cases different from the held checks.
Day 21 · Feature versus guess
- A · point/draw: From a safe live plant A view, point to one actually visible external feature and draw only its outline; add date/source and one question.
- B · say/AAC: Tell the teacher one feature you directly noticed or begin “The adult reported…”, then distinguish it from a guess about plant health.
- C · supported source route: Direct an adult to the approved live plant A view and ask for a neutral feature description; select a broad FEATURE SHOWN / UNKNOWN card and attribute ADULT REPORT. A tactile Model F1 may help explain an outline but stays separate from the real source.
Day 22 · Two plant sources
- A · side-by-side cards: Read source/date for actual A and B, mark one visible feature same/different, and put blocked details under CANNOT TELL.
- B · oral/private: Describe one real feature from each live plant source or attribute an adult report; explain why a hidden part cannot be counted.
- C · large-source strips: Arrange broad A/B feature strips dictated from real dated views, or mark one as PHOTO/MODEL if that is what was used; preserve source types.
Day 23 · Animal source
- A · annotated card: After safe live view or licensed photo, draw two external features actually shown and label LIVE or PHOTO, with date/source.
- B · speak/AAC: Give two source-bounded features from the view or neutral adult report and one unknown about behaviour/home; do not infer a species.
- C · tactile/read-aloud: Hear exact live-view adult report or rights-cleared photo description with source named; select broad FEATURE SHOWN / NOT SHOWN cards and keep ADULT REPORT attribution.
Day 24 · Group by an evidenced rule
- A · move cards: Place dated plant/animal source cards under a chosen visible-feature rule, then change the rule; put unsupported features under CANNOT TELL.
- B · explain: Tell teacher the rule and source evidence for each placement, then say which card moves when only the rule changes.
- C · tactile groups: Use two broad bounded areas and a CANNOT TELL area; direct an adult to place large source cards and explain one placement from an actually sourced feature.
Day 25 · After the fresh check only
- A · new model marks: Make two original fictional cards, one with a long line and one with short lines; sort by line length while labelling MODEL ONLY.
- B · question: Ask what approved live source and safe viewing point would help check whether a real plant shows a feature; leave the answer unknown.
- C · tactile: Group large invented line cards by “has a bend” with adult read-aloud, then explain why this is drawing reasoning and not a local living-thing record.
Day 26 · Purpose and prediction
- A · mat: Name the actual approved panel/source and large filled-circle card; write a visibility question and prediction before adult placement.
- B · say/AAC: Choose visible public sign or hidden guessing-game job; predict whether this exact panel will let the circle show and name a condition to hold same.
- C · broad layout: Arrange large SYMBOL / PANEL / OBSERVER labels on a stable desk without moving the real panel; direct adult where an approved trial would occur and mark result NOT TESTED until then.
Day 27 · One actual panel view
- A · direct view: After approved placement, mark VISIBLE / NOT VISIBLE / CANNOT TELL for the actual filled circle under panel A, plus source/date/distance.
- B · private report: Tell teacher your earlier prediction and exactly what you directly saw or what adult reported; avoid “all of this material”.
- C · no-touch/order: Hear neutral adult description while panel remains fixed; point to broad RESULT / NOT TESTED cards and name ADULT REPORT, not direct sight.
Day 28 · Two panels and a layer
- A · comparison table: Record actual A, B and optional A+B visibility separately after safe trials, verified material parts or UNKNOWN, and any different glare/position.
- B · say/AAC: Compare what happened with A and B in these conditions; describe A+B as two layers and state which control differed.
- C · large panel labels: Arrange broad A, B and A+B cards in trial order; direct adult to place approved real panels and dictate source-labelled results or NOT TESTED.
Day 29 · Material choice for a job
- A · page: From a dated actual panel log, select one for visible public sign or hidden guessing game; state observed reason and one limit.
- B · private explanation: Explain to teacher source, actual visibility or NOT TESTED, job and cautious choice; record only a real listener question if one occurs.
- C · tactile sequence: Touch five broad numbered claim prompts; direct adult to read/scribe, with ADULT REPORT or MODEL label preserved.
Day 30 · After the fresh check only
- A · future plan: Draw a new large plain symbol and blank A/B boxes for a future approved trial; leave actual results NOT TESTED.
- B · explain: Compare a printed model sentence with an actual dated panel log; say which can support a material choice here.
- C · large cards: Arrange broad SOURCE / PREDICTION / RESULT / UNKNOWN cards in order, then tell an adult why a fictional result is not local evidence.
