Day 35 · unseen claim and one fresh mark
ACTUAL LOCAL SOURCE option: Before the check, adult prepares one new broad intact school-approved practice surface C, different from the A/B samples used in Days 31–34, with a dry large double vertical bar mark. Check material label from source information or write UNKNOWN. Check marker/cloth safety, stable desk, local date, dry state and a neutral no-touch viewing route. The child hears the fresh invented claim “These two bars will not change after one gentle dry wipe,” predicts before action, then adult makes exactly one safe gentle pass and records whatever actually happens. The claim is deliberately unverified; no result or expected direction is given. No official sign is touched.
PAPER MODEL ONLY fallback, fresh original board C: One large square outline, two thick vertical bars inside it, a right-pointing arrow, then a second large square outline with one thick vertical bar and one short broken vertical bar. Label the whole board INVENTED BEFORE/AFTER DRAWING; NO SURFACE TESTED. It contains no verified material, ink, cloth, adult action, actual observation, date of wipe or proof the mark changed. Exact nonvisual/tactile: read left square and two full bars, arrow, right square with one full and one short broken bar, in order; broad fixed raised bars remain a model. - “What is the source: an approved real practice sample, a neutral adult report, or an invented paper board? What is its date or model-use date?”
- “Does the sentence about two bars give a result or a prediction/claim? Ask one specific question we could check safely. What do you predict before any real wipe?”
- For actual route, adult conducts the one approved pass; ask “What did you directly see, or what did the adult report?” For paper route, ask “What marks are drawn before and after the arrow? Does the arrow prove a real wipe happened?”
- “Is the claim supported for this exact actual try, unsupported, or still untested? What remains unknown about other surfaces or conditions?”
After first response: Use key to choose next teaching move. Day 35 learner practice uses a different invented curve; no held board is in teaching cards.
Day 40 · unseen repeat source and comparability
ACTUAL LOCAL SOURCE option: Adult chooses a new broad school-approved practice surface D, not used in Days 31–39, and prepares three separate large identical hook-shaped dry marks at a safe stable desk. Record material verification or UNKNOWN, marker/source, local date, dry state, room light, cloth, adult handler and access. Child predicts before any action. Adult makes one gentle dry pass on each separate mark, using a fresh broad clean cloth area each time; stop if any trial becomes unsafe. Record each after-mark exactly, including NOT TESTED, and any change in pressure/mark drying or view. No result is prescribed.
PAPER MODEL ONLY fallback, fresh fictional records Z1–Z3: All cards say INVENTED RECORD; NO CLASSROOM WIPE. - “Are these three actual dated trials, attributed adult reports, or invented records? Which source/material facts are known or UNKNOWN?”
- “Predict what may happen in a future safe real trial before any actual action. If real trials occur now, save the prediction first.” The fictional after-words are not actual prediction results.
- For actual route, “What happened in Trial 1, 2 and 3? Were setup and adult action sufficiently alike?” For paper route, “Which drawn after-marks are alike? Which written action differs?”
- “Can we describe a pattern in comparable real observations here? Give a cautious statement or INSUFFICIENT COMPARABLE OBSERVATIONS, and one next safe check.”
